Dx IDC, right breast.
I was diagnosed on 8/10/12 with IDC, right breast, .6cm, it is under my nipple. I am having a lumpectomy next week with sent lymph node dissect. (waiting for the nurse to call and tell me what day) my BS does not expect to find anything more. B-MRI was clean, no other tumors. BS said I may not need rads, if I do it with be the 3d version, and I think that is a short duration.
I am not sure how I feel about all this; I know I am pretty lucky that it was caught early. The BS is not sure if he will be able to spare my nipple, I told him Ok with me; just get the cancer out!

Im sorry that you have had to join us, but glad you found us here. As you go thru the process you may have questions that we can help you with.
For now it sounds like you have to wait for your surgery and the biopsy results which will hopefully confirm your BS's opinion and then get a final plan on your adjuvant therapy.
I know its hard, but try to keep the thought that you are lucky for it to be caught so early as a mantra. Hopefully that will keep you as upbeat as possible over the next week or two Prsam. Hope the time before surgery flies for you. Please do let us know if you have any concerns or questions though, we are here for you.

Hi there prsam. I too was diagnosed with IDC - (left breast) and had lumpectomy on August 9, 2012. Pathology confirmed the diagnosis, with clear margins and no sentinel node involvement.
I have not yet received the info about whether or not it is hormone receptor positive, but have an appointment upcoming consultation set up with medical oncologist and radiation oncologist.
I cannot say enough good things about the caring people that I have encountered along this short journey so far. Everyone has been amazing and upbeat. My co-workers have been wonderful and I am so happy that I feel so great so soon after surgery.
Next steps for me will be radiation therapy -- the only thing that is somewhat formidable to me .. But I am healthy and strong and know this too shall pass.
Good luck to you. I hope you keep a positive outlook and you will be well soon.

Hi there prsam:
I was diagnosed with IDC (left breast) and had lumpectomy and snb, surgeon got clear margins and no node involvement.
I finished my 35 rads on 1/18/12 and now I'm just going for regular checkups. Mine was also small and I am so blessed to have so many cheerleaders in my corner.
And the medical staff has been just wonderful and I'm so blessed to have them as well.
You'll do fine and a positive attitude is always helpful..
God bless you,
LaDonna

Thanks to all of you for your replies, since I was last on here, I have been through an MRI, lumpectomy surgery and SNB, today I had the drain removed. All looks good at this point. The incision area looks great but is quite itchy.
The path report was not as good as I thought it would be. I am now in stage 2a instead of stage 1. We didn't think I would need more treatment, but just like so many of you; after the surgery and the pathology report, things change.
My tumor was 2.2 centimeters, I guess that is what put me in the 2a category. No node involvement, however, the surgeon could not find additional nodes to look at. so now I am MX- my oncology nurse said it means they are not able to determine for sure if spread occurred or they need more scans, tests to determine or rule it out.
I am scheduling appointments with at least 3 oncologists. Thank God I have a wonderful oncology nurse who is helping me through the process; she is through my insurance co and I have another nurse that follows her patients through the women's center in town, they did my mamo, biopsy's, and MRI. So I have great support from them. I have told my family and a couple of other people, but that is all. My husband of 20+ years is very supportive.
I am wishing all of you the best week end you can have!!! Thanks again
