Referral to Oncologist Even though Mass is B9

I recently had a biopsy for a large growing mass that turned out to be just fat, breast tissue and scar tissue. But since I'm having shoulder and rib pain, abdominal swelling and weight loss, I'm being referred to an oncologist for further testing. What kind of testing do you think they will do? My lymph nodes are definitely less swollen since my surgery. I thought that maybe I was out of the woods so to speak since my biopsy was b9. How often is stage IV breast cancer detected without a mass?
