Concerned about red spot on breast
Hi all,
Last week I woke up with an itchy red spot on my right breast, near my nipple. Of course I "googled", found IBC and rang my doctor. They got me in immediately but she said it looked like a bite of some sort, wrote a prescription for a cream and wanted to see me in a week. Well, the cream (and cortizone) aren't really helping with the itch and today I noticed that the blotch is bigger, there's also a smaller red blotch that appeared near it. I also have a weird sensation in my nipple now. Oh, and the itching is much worse and driving me crazy! The blotch is raised and warmer than the rest of my skin. I'm 40 and do have a mammogram scheduled for this week.
Yep, I'm freaking just a bit. I told and showed hubby how it's changed and he told me to call the doctor tomorrow (Tuesday). I'm hoping they'll get me in.

MLM72, I found my cancer because of a red spot on my breast, but it definitely did NOT itch. No weird sensations and no pain, just the red spot.
Yes, you should absolutely follow-up with your doctor and mammogram. I'm just sharing my own experience.
Deep breaths. There's about a gazillion things this could be, including bug bites, an allergic reaction, etc. I'll be looking for your updates!

MLM72,
I am currently dealing with a red spot on my breast, too. It actually showed up about 5-6 weeks ago. Honestly, it just looked like a pimple or blimish. I didn't think anything about it. Last week another small bump appeared. I also started having pains, sensitivity, and slight itching. Yesterday I finally got in to see a doctor (how dare they vacation in the summer!!). She seems to think mine may just be a skin situation. I pray she is right. I have antibiotic cream to use for a week. Also, she suggested using Witch Hazel to clean, calm, and heal the skin. If there is no improvement in a week, then she is sending me for an ultrasound. I hate dealing with breast issues and the waiting.
I hope you are able to get in to see a doctor. Please keep us updated!

sbelizabeth - hugs to you. I hope everything is going ok.
Shelle3 - scary stuff. I hope it is a skin thing for both of us.
