Oh, Mrskimber, I'm so sorry you have this to deal with now! I hope your you get your revised surgery date soon.

I don't have bilateral BC, but as far as I know staging (and therefore treatment) will be according to the most serious tumor. In other words, if a person has a Stage I tumor in one breast and a Stage III in the other, treatment is for Stage III.

My surgery date is getting closer - well, everyone's is but it's only a week and a half now so I'm really feeling it. Thank you to everyone here for holding my hand through the wait.

    Leah

It's good that this was picked up now Mrskimber... Horrible that you have to essentially go back to the beginning with diagnosis and planning though :-(

We are definitely here Leah :-)

    Jennt28,

Sorry you have to pay so much money for the surgery you want.  I also want smaller breasts than what I have prior to surgery, but I'm too scared to do the flap, so I'm just doing implants.  My PS said that because I have such a wide chest, he'll probably recommend a D cup, but we haven't discussed this in length yet.

Do the TE come in different sizes too or are they all pretty much the same before they fill you up? The nurse let me touch one of the TE, and it felt so hard and rough I was having ahrd time picturing that inside me.

    Hi,

I am new to this board. I am also receiving treatment in Boston at Brigham and Womens. Was diagnosed on June 6 with DCIS stage 0. Had a lumpecyomy on July 17, but they did not obtain  clear margins. I now have to decide between reexcision or mastectomy.

I met with one PS but she did not do the DIEP that I am interested in. Who is you PS and what sort of recon. are ypu having? Sorry for so many questions, but I need to wrap my mind around this. Wishing you all the best.Boston is a great place for treatment.

    Thanks, Janet

Great news MrsKImber! Happy for you. Welcome little Sara and sorry you have to go through this. I don't have advice, I'm still lfiguring things out, but I'm sure some of the other ladies will. Wonderful place this is.

    Best of luck to you.

Hope you are resting easy and recovering well Sandlake.

Question, probably dumb, but anyone notice unusual body temp shifts from BC? Inappropriately sweating or cold for what the actual temp is? One extreme, then another? I'm not running fever, just sweating profusely from the least bit of say walking the dog. Then later can't get warm.

First time posting. I am scheduled for left side mastectomy Sept 10. My surgeon wants to wait and do the right at time of reconstruction. Rads to follow.

I am 39, I have a 14 year old son and 11 year old daughter. Divorced but I have a great support system of friends!

    Thank you!

I did come up with a question. Has anyone run into a surgery delay due to blood counts? My WBCs and hemoglobin were low again last week. And I am on an antibiotic for the 6th time this year.

I am hoping they bounce back this week. I had several delays during chemo due to my counts. And a reaction to the taxol.

The delays have been very frustrating to me. I just want to get this next step done!

Best wishes to everyone! This path we are walking is only for the strong. And I am constantly amazed and awed by the things that we can do!

Welcome Ohiobecky! If your low counts would adversely affect the surgery it would be a problem - best to ask your doc what to do. In the meantime iron-rich foods would probably be helpful. Are you on the antibiotic for a current infection or to prevent infection? If it's to prevent, they'd probably want you to stay on it until the surgery at least (and it would be a good idea to add a probiotic). If you have an infection now, it's another thing to ask the doc (though if the antibiotic works you should be over the infection before Sept 10).

Jenn, we're all very sympathetic to your sleep difficulties. If anyone has any ideas about what to do, let us know. Femara has completely messed up my sleep patterns, though until recently I was able to sleep, just at weird times. Unfortunately it's gotten worse lately, probably because of tension of upcoming surgery.

    Helo everyone,

I was diagnosed last Christmas and had a double mastectomy Jan 6th. They talked me into the expanders for reconstruction and are the worst things ever. I have had to wear them while going through 6 months of chemo.

I decided to go ahead with the diep reconstruction, hoping to have my own tissues in my breat. Like everyone in here its crazy when your first diagnoised and it feel like we will never get through it but we do. And we are strong.

I am suppose to start the ani estrogen pill which I am not liking that and am studying more.

And being I am HR2  I will be on herception until next year

So there will be another surgery to get the post out.

So right now I am only going to focus on the up coming surgery and get ready mentally for it.
