Hi,

Can anybody with all positive receptors please share your treatment plan? Did you start with aromatase inhibitors first or did you start with chemo + Herceptin? What results did you have?

I am writing concerning my mom, who was diagnosed couple of weeks ago with recurrence after 10 years. She was initially diagnosed with stage IIb in June 2002, had unilateral mastectomy, chemo (doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide and Taxotere), followed by radiation and 5 years of Tamoxifen. Couple of months ago she felt a lymph node in her cervical area and only 3 weeks later some nodules on the mastectomy scar appeared. CT scans showed 2 lung nodules (~ 9 mm), 2 axillar (the biggest 2.3 cm), several mediastinal (the biggest 18 mm) and cervical adenopathy. No abdominal or brain metastasis; bone scan will be done on Tuesday.

We saw the oncologist last week and he was debating if he should start her on hormonal tx or chemo + Herceptin first. We are going to a larger cancer center on Wednesday for a second opinion, but wanted to see what others with similar situation had been prescribed and worked.

She has been well all of those 10 years and now to find out that it reappeared....My dad and her moved to US last September right before I had my daughter, their first grandchild. We were so happy, we were finally together after many years of being apart...and then we got these devastating news. She is only 60 and she is the most incredible mom and best friend. I am terrified of loosing her; just the thought of it paralyses me. I have been reading many posts here since we got the news and some are encouraging, but some are not as much. I know that HER2 + is aggressive, but is there a chance for a long survival?

Thank you in advance!

Ica52: My daughter is also triple positive. She was started originally on TDM-1 on a trial. I understand that it is now approved for general use. It was very effective for about 1 and 1/2 years then she had a small progression and was thrown out of the trial. Everything after that was in combination with herceptin which she tolerates very well and she is currently stable three years later. I hear tell of many women who live a good life for many years and besides there are constantly new drugs coming. Don't give up hope for your Mom.

I don't think TDM1 is approved yet for general use.

I did the herceptin, AI (aromasin) and taxotere (6 doses) - knocked back my mets for 18 months? stable. ( have lung nodules too)..Contintued with herceptin and AI, then did the TDM1 trial.

Now I am on Tykerb + Herceptin + Aromasin, just left aromasin for tamoxifen.

What about the  new combo? just approved? Herceptin+ taxotere and perjeta.

I'm on Lipron and arimidex for AI, Herceptin and Haloven as my chemo. I'm being treated all three ways.
