I don't take any multi-vitamin. I take a small dose of calcium with D3 on doctor's orders. I take a baby aspirin every other day and I take acidophilus daily.

Maitake D Fraction is an excellent supplement to take. Builds immunity and Kills cancer. It is used in other countries. You can reduce the dose of chemo by taking it and get an even better response! I think the study was in Germany.

You ought to check the complimentary and alternative boards. A lot of the ladies are taking DIM, I3C, grapeseed extract just to name a few. I haven't gotten through all the posts that I want to yet but am making a list. There is a book called Beatin Cancer With Nutrition by Patrick Quillen that I refered to all the time when I was first dx'd. Tons of info in there about suppliments and the benefits of each one. The author used to be the Director of the nutrition dept at CTCA.

many, I've been a heavy supplement user for 30 years, and I firmly believe there's a significant difference in what you get from what I refer to as drugstore brands (i.e. Centrum, One-A-Day, and similar chemical vitamins), and a natural brand such as those carried in natural foods markets like Whole Foods, Sprouts, etc. The main difference is that the drugstore brands are singular, extracted nutrients -- even if they're then put back into a multi formula. In other words, you get extracted or man made Vitamin C (ascorbic acid), for example, but nothing else that occurs in nature with Vitamin C. Natural vitamins OTOH, are closer to what you find in food. They take food that contains an abundance of Vitamin C (rosehips or oranges, for example), and then process that whole food at a low heat to retain not only the Vitamin C, but all the surrounding micronutrients that are found with the C.
Another key difference is in the fillers or shellac coatings some companies do or don't use. As you might imagine, the cheaper products contain the cheaper fillers. And sometimes our bodies actually have to work harder to process and eliminate that junk.
To me, using synthetic vitamins is no better than eating overly processed food. They might stimulate you and prevent you from having a vitamin deficiency, but it's not going to nourish your body the way whole foods will.
I have a few favorite brands for specific products, but for the most part I buy what's on sale or special at my local natural foods markets. Brands like Jarrow, Solgar, Kal, BlueBonnet, MRM, Paradise Herbs and many others are all good, and you can also find them at great prices on websites like Vitacost. Also most "house" brands at natural food markets are made for them by one of those big manufacturers. I also get a few very high grade specialized supplements from my naturopathic doctor, and that would be another good place to check if you have a naturopathic doctor in your area.
Because I take so many individual supplements, I don't personally take a multi. But it's probably a good place to start.
Hope this helps, and feel free to PM me if you have more questions. Deanna
