Neat pictures.
I didn't like the 'cartoons' either. I found them creepy. The point is supposed to be what?
-
HELLO Ruth. Missed you here. I tried a couple of times to get folks to read your analysis of STU2C. It's still classic
-
-
I agree about the cartoons. If they're directed at children, I think that's TMI and age-inappropriate. For adults, it's disturbing, among other concerns. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who felt that way.
-
Hopeful, I agree re: the cartoons. Also, as someone who had a modified radical I couldn't help but think "my scar is way longer than that!" And although I've chosen not to reconstruct, it's weird that there were no depictions of that either. If you're going to do it, at least be accurate and representative. And a little more tactful/respectful. I choose not to think of myself as "mutilated."
Edited to add: or a sleeve? How about a princess with a sleeve and glove
?!?
-
Absolutely agree re: lack of respect and the LE sleeve, floaton. Good points.
Best case would have been not to do the stupid cartoons at all, IMO.
-
Love the fire truck. Found the cartoons to be creepy. -
bump
-
Do not like the cartoons either. BC treatment seems barbaric at best. I keep waiting to hear of real targeted treatment not mutilation poisoning and radiating

Once it is over....It is OVER to me.....Liz -

Gosh I've missed this thread! Looking forward to October so it gets active again!
-
yes, Lucy, it's an approach avoidance thing. We like being together, but not pinking
-
a newbie started a thread wondering how most of us felt about the Pinktober and ribbons, etc. I told her about this thread and bumped it. I hope she reads it.
-
Yes, I saw her. I posted on one of her threads. Her name is Cheesecake.
-
That's cheeseQUAKE! Because I think its an awesome word and it tickles the heck out of me that someone actually named a town that in NJ
anyways, yep, I found this thread! Lots to read!! Thanks ladies!
-
It seemed like last October was more tame than in previous years. I still used October to get on my soapbox a few times on Facebook to educate the masses.
-
I think the message may be getting through BC isn't cute and pink it is a deadly disease.
-
Julie & Meow, I would like to think that you're right. It's way overdue.
-
Just saw this on Huffington Post. FTC is filing charges against 4 cancer "charities" for misusing funds.
Cancer Fund of America
Cancer Support Services
Children's Cancer Fund of America
Breast Cancer Society
The last 2 have agreed to settle charges, and dissolve. The first 2 are going to fight.
It's a start.
-
I saw the headline but haven't had time to read the article yet. Breast Cancer Society??!?! Fuckers. 'Scuse the language.
-
I was somewhat less than happy that Mother's Day seemed to be full of pink and cancer ads. I do agree that October was more muted than the previous October
-
Spookie---dear dear friend--could you take point on following the two to see how it's resolved?
-
Id forgotten my paper, Tampa Bay Times had done a series on questionable charities last year. So this mornings headline they were blowing their horn about this. Good for them. Any further action, I'm sure it will be in there.
-
CNN ran an investigation on these "characters" quite a while back - all seem to be from the same family and some of their ex's - scumbags all!
-
So true. The Times series also touched on the biggies too, Komen, Avon, etc. as I said, it's a start.
-
I received a call from the Breast Cancer Society a few months ago. A very sweet -sounding grandmotherly voice was trying to solicit a donation from me. I listened a while and finally cut her off and hung up. I went online to check out this "charity" and found much that was at best questionable. As cynical as I am I almost believed her pitch, but better sense ultimately prevailed.
-
So, a friend of mine is selling t-shirts to help fund his third book. My hubby told me he bought me a t-shirt. My reply, I hope you got a large, I'm finally losing the chemo weight, and two it better not be PINK. He accidently forgets the color...I told him if it is pink there will be a hell to pay. I'm still waiting to have my burning of all things pink.
-
Saw this on another site. Women were supposed to put a coke can between their breasts. This is her reply. See the glove on hand?
-
Seriously? And this is supposed to help how? Raise awareness? smh
