Opinions Pleeeeease!! :(
Woke up Thurs. 7/26/12 with a pink rash on my right breast (was inflammed and hot to the touch). Friday 7/27/12 Went to my PCP who didn't think it looked "right", not a "typical dermititis". He prescribed antibios and said if it was not looking better by Monday (today) to come back for him to check it and if necessary send me for a mamo & ultrasound. Rash appeared to be worse to me, red in color, skin wrinkly, with a leather-like feel. Today he said he thinks it looks better...not as big of an area and not as hot to the touch. I requested to still have the mamo and ultrasound; the first appointment available is Wednesday.
So, here's my question to all of you with experience... could this be IBC? Has anyone's IBC looked like this?
Here is some background info about me:
34 years old
Missed menstral period for 4 months - Tubaligation done in 2003 after second child.
Approximately 7 years ago found lump on right breast, had biopsy and result was benign. Was told it was more than likely from the underwire bras I wear.
Breast/nipple is always itchy for the past 6 months or so
Sudden rash -see pics (link below)

(This first pic is from day 2 of the rash)
This pic is day 4
This is from tonight...(the "hole" near the center is from me picking at it...I know I shouldn't have, but I am the curious type)

It might take a little while to get a response on the ibc forum because traffic is a little slower here but hang in there. Someone will come along eventually to help you out. Just wanted to give you a heads up. -
Amy,
They may be able to pick somehting up on ultrasound. If suspicious, they will have you get a biopsy which will let you know what's up. My rash was smaller like a spider bite but my breast was inflamed and quite a bit larger than the L one.
I waited a couple weeks to get the ultrasound. I know it's nerve racking, but stay calm and get whatever test you need done.

Amy, my rash was all over my right breast. The skin was like an orange peel, and my right nipple was partly inverted. It itched like crazy and came up basically overnight. There was never any lump. Just itchy, hot, and didn't look right.
I went to my GP the next day after the rash appeared, he said I either had mastitis or breast cancer. A couple of days later, I am at my OBGYN for my exam and he take a look at my breast immediately gets on the phone to the breast center. I go the next morning for a mammogram, immediately get a second mammogram and a skin punch bioposy. The nurse told me that my OBGYN would get my report.
He told me I had IBC and discussed what the steps of treatment were. This site is a wonderful help to those recently diagnosed, being treated, or needing emotional support while trying to be healthy. Lots of great sisters here. I'll be praying for you that it is not IBC.

I obviously haven't been here for awhile. How did you make out? Did you get a diagnosis? NJ
