I was diagnosed stage 4 from the start in November 08. Completed 6 mo. of Avastin, Taxotere & was stable on Femara until fall 2011 when I found out I had mets to lining of stomach. Started Xeloda & Taxotere immediately and my CA 27.29 has dropped from 340 to 91. I found out today I have stable bone and CAT scans, however, I've gone from being ER+/PR-, HER@- to Triple Negative. I'm in shock, as the dr. has known since February and just told me today after I inquired if my hormone status had changed.  What chemo options are available for Triple Negative? He's leaving me on the Taxotere and Xeloda for now.

Hi lukejessesmom: First, congrats on stabilizing your stage 4 BC - that's good news. But I can understand the shock of finding out, months after the fact, that you're now TN. As you may know, TN is known to respond very favorably to chemo (more so than ER+) and I'm sure that's why your doc has put you on the regimen you're on. We have several ladies here who are are late stage 3 or stage 4, and hopefully one will be along soon to describe the chemo drugs they have used (I know taxotere and xeloda are common.) In the meantime, I seem to recall a thread for stage 4 TNs, or one called "chemo for advanced TN"...  you might want to do a search and see what you find. Wishing you well.

Edited to add: Be sure to come over to the Calling all TNs thread here too - very active thread with lots of great ladies! We talk about everything there.
