How do I correctly do an SBE after excisional?

I have started doing SBE's recently since I have had 2 spots found during U/S exam in 6 months. (1st complex cyst, 2nd intraductal papillomatosis with mild atypia.)  My question is, how do I know if a new lump is related to the excisional I had at the end of June or if it is an actual lump?  I found a lump yesterday.  Not where my scar is, but about an inch to the left of it.

I have found that it is really hard to do SBE after my lumpectomy.  I even asked my surgeon about it at my 8 week check up and again at my 6 month check up and she said that it would be difficult due to scar tissue that forms in the area.  I just do the best that I can and have 2 clinical exams a year plus an annual mammogram and sonogram that will hopefully pick up anything that I miss.  I try not to make myself too crazy about it, not always easy to do.

Thanks, JanetM!  I guess I will just ignore what I am feeling and wait until my 6 month appointment.  My first was palpable.  2nd was not.

Nothing that I had was palpable, so much for SBEs.
