My name is Amber and my partner was diagnosed with triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma grade 3 stage IIa in March of 2012. On July 24th she had an oopharectomy as she was B1+. We are scheduled for her to have a bilateral mestectomy on Aug 8th. She will have spacers put in and we will not know about radiation until pathology report comes in. At this point we do know that her tumor is 5.2cm. However chemo did shrink tumor significantly. We can't even feel it anymore. SO EXCITING!! I am just here to maybe get some more information if anyone else out there has similar breast cancer. What are our options as far as radiation? Should she do radiation even if they say not too? Thanks for your time.

Sorry to hear about your partner's Dx. That's great that the chemo has shrunk the tumor. It's significant to know the tumor responds to the drugs. hurrah!

You are welcome to post here in the IDC forum but as an FYI, there is another forum here just on triple negative BC. Just an FYI cuz you may get responses from patients with more similar Dx. Good luck to both you and your partner. (hope you're taking care yourself too. It's not easy being the caregiver).  (((hugs))

I'm sorry that u'r partner has to go thru this but u do too. U sound like u want to do all u can to support her decisions and that's wonderful.

more people will know about this, I don't so I can't give u any advice, but I'm sure someone will help. Good Luck

Amber- have your partner (or you) come over to the Calling all TNS thread. We are all triple negative and in various stages of treatment and recovery. Once she has had surgery, the pathology report will indicate if clear margins were obtained. If so, probably no radiation. It is VERY exciting that chemo has shrunk the tumor so significantly!
