Will be in Stacy London's Book - the truth about style
Release date 10/2/12. I am 1 of 8 featured in the book for style issues. Since my double mastectomy and my weight gain from treatment I really had a problem finding tops. I was picked for Stacy's book and if I can help 1 person out there then i will be happy. I will be a 2 year survivor in September 2012. Something good has come out of something bad. Book can be preordered at Amazon or Barns and Noble. Let me know what you think! God Bless!

Wow! That's terrific! I love her show, can't wait to see the book
-
Thanks. It was pretty exciting. We went to NYC for a makeover and she was terrific as was her entire staff. Lots of fun, very emotional and therapeutic at the same time.

Were you on the show? I remember seeing an episode where a woman had similar issues. She'd had a double mastectomy and opted for no reconstruction.
I love that show.

WooHOO jan!!!! Congratulations!!!
-
Congratulations, Jan! We're fans of Stacy (and Clinton) too. No doubt you'll be an inspiration to many others dealing with BC and its aftermath.
-
That's what started it. I saw that show and wanted to know if she ever did a show with someone who did have recon. I sent her a message on fb and she answered she was writing a book. The rest is history!
-
Thank you!, I just got my copy of the book. I am now known as Page 63 amongst my friends
I'm going to NYC on 10/2 for the book launch party. It's very exciting.
I hope y'all get to read it!

I love her show. She seems to really care about people. I know after my dmx that feeling good about my apprerance was huge to my healing. I wasn't really into my apperance before but as they say, cancer changes things. Cannot wait to get the book! Major congrats.

Tomorrow I head out to NYC for the book launch party! This is so exciting
. I will keep you all posted.
I'm nervous! But I got through cancer, I can get through this! -
Jan508 - that is so cool! I remember watching the WNTW show with the woman who'd had a mastectomy, and found her attitude so inspiring. This was even before I'd been diagnosed, and little did I know how often I'd be watching that show while I went through chemo.
So, Good for you, and congratulations! Have a great time at the party! Everybody there is probably nervous too.
Janet -
The launch party was wonderful. My sister in law went with me along with 5 other girls in the book. Went to Atlanta with DH fir book signing and that was great too.
So, now I've had my 15 minutes of fame, back to work LOL -

jan508, I only wish I'd seen your post sooner than today!
Can't begin to tell you how much I LOVE What Not To Wear, and was THRILLED that Stacy wrote a somewhat autobiographical book. I saw her promoting it on Anderson Cooper's show, so I got a copy from my local library and read it about a month ago. It was a fabulous.
At the time, I remember reading about the 'woman' with recon and wondering, "hm...does she know about bc.org or if she's even a poster?!?!?!" And come to find out it's you! I am going to have to get the book again just to see your photos and read your story again. I think it is WAY COOL that you are featured in the book! And went to the book launching and signing. Gosh I am a little jealous of you!!!!
Stacy is just amazing, talented, beautiful and I've loved her show for years and years. It helped even me learn to dress better and present myself in a more positive light (see my crown in the picture, lol). I loved learning more of her personal life, I never would have guessed she suffered from psoriasis and low body image. That is fabulous that you simply wrote to her and told her your story and she included you in the book!!!!!!! You are so lucky!
-
This is so cool. Congrats!
-
Sorry I haven't replied but haven't been on here in awhile. Msphil I am going to get your book from amazon. The divine, thank you for the kind words. It was a wonderful experience and I see you have been crowned a princess, well deserved!
Thanks all -
jan, I confess I haven't gotten around to getting that book again from the library...so I'm gonna place a hold on it right now....glad you posted because I have thought about it ocassionally.
And, the news is that 'What Not To Wear' is in its last season
, major sadness! Their last episodes will be airing in July. Well, I knew the day would probably come; I'll miss them, but have enjoyed every single one of thei shows.
-
Yes I also enjoyed their show and Stacy London is actually a wonderful person. She really is clever and has a wonderful wit about her. I, too, will miss their show. I did get a lot of great tips from them.
-
Jan, I just got the book again from the library and reread with interest the chapter about you. It was wonderful and inspiring. It is so nice to learn more about you! Your "after" look is really quite stunning. I think i'm built something like you (I almost always wear 'v' neck shirts), I'm in my mid-50s, short, with some extra weight gain from anti-hormonals. I don't own a dress, so I sort of studied your blue dress to see if maybe I can find something like it for Easter. Have you been able to apply the dressing principles to your every day life? Best wishes. ~Mrs. M.

Thanks! With my weight gain (30 lbs) from the tamoxifen (and I walk 5 k, go to gym) can't lose anything - it's very difficult to find clothes that I think I look good in, but I have bought some dresses. I work from home so I do t have a big need to wear them. I found the Jessica Howard petite dresses in Dillards and I've had good luck with them. I'm sure you can find something. That dress was a Calvin Klein dress. It's still in my closet. You couldn't see it but it was very big on me and was pinned all the way down the back. Ahh, the magic of photo shoots. LOL
Check out my FB page - "The Pleasure Island Day of Hope." My friend and I founded that last year and this year we are having a beach walk. W
Keep in touch!
Jan
