Itchy skin from bandages?

Options

I had my TE exchange Monday and developed itchy skin after taking the first prophylactic antibiotic pill.  PS said stop taking.  I did.  Itchy went away in a couple of days, mostly.  I'm still a little itchy under the bandages, but on on the incision itself.  The bandages are pretty much a surgical bra stuffed with large large gause type material.  Today is pretty hot and my skin is sweating under the bandages and OMG the itchy is CRAZY!

What to do?  PS said to keep bandages on until first follow up, which is not until next THURSDAY! 6 more days.  The bandages are mostly just against the skin.  The incision is also covered but the padding is just covering my breasts where there are no incisions.  Picture your hands cupped over the breast.  This area ia all red and itchy.  Contact dermatitis?

Why on Friday night?  I may have to call surgeon or go in to let him have a peak to remove the padding.  Ugh.....

Oh, gosh. Why do things like that happen on a Friday night, really?

From a mom's experience, whenever my son's arm is in a splint (2 consecutive years now), he needs me to reposition the padding and re-wrap frequently. The little fibers even in gauze, when pressed against his skin for too long, would make him itch like crazy. Right then we needed to keep the joint immobile, but just carefully replacing the gauze would give him quick relief.

I'm wondering if you could ease some cotton in under the gauze and get some relief?

If that doesn't sound like a fit, please go ahead and call your surgeon. Your discomfort is real, and it is probably something he has seen before. Don't even try to last those 6 days.

    ((hugs)) DonnaS
