BMX w/ immediate implant reconstruction, then radiation?

I am wondering if anyone had a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction (implants put in at the time of mastectomy, not tissue expanders) and then radiation? And if so, did you have a positive experience and get good results? I had my surgery on June 29. I have chemo starting tomorrow and then I will have radiation. Before my surgery, my plastic surgeon and breast surgeon offered implants at the time of mastectomy and were very positive about it. Now that I am done, my plastic surgeon is saying there are no guarantees when radiation is involved. He said if for some reason it fails during radiation, he will have to remove the implant and I will have no reconstruction or then he will have to consider taking tissue from other areas of my body. I am wondering if he has to say this because there are no guarantees but realistically it is not common? Is there the same level of risk of failure with tissue expanders?
