Hi all, just want to advise that I am going blind in last 12 weeks.  Seen optometrist who then referred me to opthamologist who says I have lesions in my right eye.  Just want to share the symptoms as from what I have been told that tumors in the eye are from secondary breast, prostate, lung and brain tumors.  Many don't do much about thier sight as they feel it could be medication related.  If you notice changes to your vision and progressing quickly then I can only suggest you get a referral for a thorough eye test and ultrasound as well as angiogram.  I have secondary breast mets to my macula ???? Just waiting to see opthamologist to see what his treatment plan is if any.  If laser treatment not an option then its radiation and I have been told I will lose sight and go blind.  My left eye is good at this point and they are not sure if it has the potential to spread to my left eye.  Hearing also going in right ear which was my best ear.  I was originally diagnosed in 2005 invasive ductal cell carcinoma, 2006 IBC, mastectomies Jan 2007 Bone tumor to ilium in November 2010 and July 2012 lesion to eye.   Still fighting strong and not giving up on HOPE.  Any vision changes please have it checked out..... Love and Blessings to you all.

Oh, lbcwarrior, I am so very sorry!  Please keep me posted on your progress.  You are in my thoughts.  And thank you so much for sharing and helping the rest of us raise our awareness of this.  I was not aware this was a possible site for BC mets.

I have increased uptake of tracer on my bone scan to orbit of right eye. Everybody tells me it is rare to mets there so they don't want to follow up with it or do any further testing. Should I insist?

Yes I would insist. I know someone with orbital met. She had radiation. Eye is fine. Several years later she has other boney lesions but is stil doing ok

I will add that if you have vision changes after surgery to tell your doctor. I had double vision and hallucinations after my BMX with DIEP. The nurses said it was caused by a patch for nauseau. I continued to have cloudy vision which I thought was due to the pain meds. It wasn't. The blood loss during my surgery starved my ocular nerve and I have permanent vision loss in my right eye. I didn't know until I mentioned it to my doctor 2 weeks later and she said to see an eye doctor. When the eye doctor asked me to cover my good eye I could see I had lost 60% of my vision in my right eye. The loss is more noticeable now that I'm not sleeping all the time. I'm nervous about driving and going back to work. Never could have imagined this kind do side effect. If it was caught earlier and treated with steroids I might have been able to save it or improve it.

I wonder how they know its not mets. I'll have to ask about this. I am being treated for a new primary cancer after having stage 3 cancer 7 years ago.
