Resources available

About 7 years ago my wife was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ.  We went through the surgery and were told that there is a good chance that it was all gone and would never come back.  Obviously given my post, that was not the case.  Early this year she was experiencing back pain and in May we found tumors on her spine.  The cancer is estrogen positive so they have shut down her ovaries, she is responding well to the Tamoxifen and she is on a bone strengthening drug.  

While I am trying to stay positive and take up the slack, internally I am falling apart.  I really need to find some outlet to discuss this but most of my energy has been helping her, working and taking care of the kids.  Family is of really no help.  Are there any resources available for the spouse going through this?

I would check with the American Cancer Society and any local cancer centers you have to see what resources are available.  I know there are some services to drive people to/from chemo and doctors appointments.  THey probably have more things.  I know there are support groups for spouses and kids of cancer patients.   There is also Cleaning for a Reason where people will clean your house while going through treatments.  If you post where you are located, maybe someone can help and tell you about resources in your area.  I wish I could help more.  My family did not help after my surgery.  My husband and I did everything during my chemo and we have a small child.  People that aren't living it don't "get it".  They go back to their lives with blinders on.  Hugs!  I wish I were near you - I would help   (I am in Chicago area).
