Cancer is a devastating disease I know about first hand.  Nearly every person in my family has suffered from some form of cancer.  As I type this, one of my aunts is fighting ovarian cancer.  Last year, my grandmother beat her bout with breast cancer at age 75.

Perhaps my most vivid imagery of cancer comes in the form of brain cancer.  7 years ago I watched my grandfather struggle with treatment, lucidity, and mortality as he slowly drifted into the hands of his stage 4 brain tumor.  Seeing this gave me a profound understanding of what it may be to struggle with any type of cancer and I decided to combine my passion for curing cancer with my passion for running.

So this October I am running the Chicago Marathon in support of the American Cancer Society!  I hope to raise $1000, which will go towards treatment research, free advice/counseling, services for people battling cancer and their families, and many other great things!

If you have been touched by cancer yourself or have had a family member suffer, please donate today.  Every little bit helps, even $1!  Thank you so much! - Lee
