Thanks Shayne, nothing like a testimonial from a sister for whom something worked !  Picked up that pistachios are found to have cancer protective molecules from that site Wink and the list of anti-cancer foods is growing and growing and growing !

I would like to see more details on this.  The article doesn't give much details about her type of cancer and stage, etc.

I'm all for eating healthy, however, I don't see how passing on tamoxifen after you've already had the cancer removed by conventional treatment a testimony to healthy eating for cancer prevention or cure based on the fact she hasn't reoccured in a short period of time.

Again, this article seems light on the facts and seems to just push the perception healthy eating is credited for her health now.  What about the chemo and surgery she'd already done?

I have to agree with Faye. I believe in doing these things but 4 years is not long enough to claim that it 'worked'. I sure hope it works! I was doing a lot of things from the book Beating Cancer With Nutrition, like taking turmeric, Maitake D Fraction, among many other things instead of Tamoxifen. I foolishly thought I was in the clear after a while and stopped due to the expense. Mine has just recurred to the spine after 7 years. So I'm back on the maitake and researching a lot of other things because I believe in the stuff. I have no idea why it came back, meaning was it because I stopped the maitake or was it because I never took tamox? Wish I knew. This time I will be doing those thing in addition to Femara. I don't regret not taking tamox..I think its just a bad drug. I do regret slipping on the healthy habits. Hopefully getting back on track will stop these spine mets in their tracks!

Have to agree with others who say this is too soon to say. However, the good news, to me, out of this article is that they are following this woman and several thousands of others to gain some insight into what, if anything, diet changes may do as compared to conventional therapy.

I believe making permanent healthy lifestyle changes will absolutley reduce your risk of reoccurance and help minimize side effects of post treatment medications.  I totally changed up everything after having breast cancer.  I eat fresh whole foods (including fresh spices), eliminated all alcohol and I exercise each day.  I also got rid of the excess baggage around my middle (45 pounds).

As a result I feel so much healthier.  My tumor markers have been good and I have little to no side effects from Femara.

    I am loving life.
