hcg test results

My friend who is also TN found out today after going to the doctor for adnormal bleeding and pain that her HCG level is off the chart.  The doctors are not saying much (hinted cancer could be possible) except that they want to do some additional testing of what they see on the ultra sound as a mass/tumor.  I can not find not one article on the website that indicates this is anything other than cancer.

They are trying to schedule additional testing ASAP but with it being summer it as not that easy to get scheduled.  As anyone else had extremely high hcg levels and it not coming back as cancer (and no she is not pregnant)?
