What a good idea having 2016 start Feb 1, I have reset my calendar.
-
January 31st always feels like......ready, set, go! ;o))
-
Good afternoon friends- MO visit went well on friday. We talked about many things and glad to have him back for my check ups after he had his own health care crisis to deal with. He says I am doing just fine.
Yoga weekend was wonderful. Attached photo from early yesterday early before sunrise to do morning meditation and yoga practice. I have done yoga before in many interesting settings (on a beach, in a meadow, in the middle of a rainforest, in the wine country of Italy), but never in front of a crackling winter fire. It was a little slice of heaven.

-
Jazzy, always nice to hear OK from MO.
Nice and toasty yoga!
-
Jazzy
Good to hear your MO visit went well.
Your yoga picture looks very inviting. I am more of a sunset girl, and I would need two mats
-
wow great news Jazzy......you do all the right things

This must be the place. I was hoping to find a facebook type place to visit with like minded or not so like minded peeps and here you all are hiding.
I had a lumpectomy in 8/2014 and am having a recurrence in the same spot but this time BONUS: metastasis to lymph node. Looking forward to CT scan for more details and how we'll be proceeding.
This time I'm going it alone. My support system wasn't very supportive and I don't want to deal with them again. So just me right now. I'll incorporate assistance as necessary.
Which brings me here today. I cannot focus on work and haven't done any for 3 weeks. I'm the most self-reliant, drug free person I know and the two just didn't go together today. I called a couple of 800 numbers for support and got nowhere fast. I finally broke down and took some Valium and I'm OK.
I can't take Valium every day just so I'll be OK. So if you all don't mind, I'd like to hang out here for awhile with people who get it.
I hope I'm in the right thread. Please redirect me if not.
TIA,
cb

CB- welcome to our thread and sorry you are having a tough time. I am sorry about your re-occurrence too, that just stinks.
Support systems around cancer can be very unpredictable. Most of us here have had mixed experiences with friends and family around this. I know I did and I ended up releasing a few friends from my life afterwards. I did not tell a lot of people and many people still don't know I had cancer. That being said, I had a few folks who just showed up and helped without questions, judgement, or trying to control the situation. I wish you had a couple people that could be there for you. This is a very lonely ride by yourself.
And doctors will give us sedatives when we were coping with dx (or perhaps re-occurrence news). You are trying to get your head around this.
Keep us posted here on next steps and we will do our best to support you. This is a quiet slow moving thread, but has nice ladies here who care!
-
hi cb1504
Sorry to see you here, especially a second time. Staying focused after a cancer diagnosis is very hard, your mind goes off in different directions your always thinking of the what ifs with lymphnode involvement. Having little support does not help. If you need a Valium take One.
I did not find bco until the end of my treatment, after reading posts on different threads I gained more information from the ladies here then from my medical team.
I wasn't given anything for anxiety and didn't think to ask, but I did get a meditation app for my iPad and it really helped.
I hope your ct scan goes well, thinking good thoughts for you.
-
CB welcome, I wrote a lovely long post on my Ipad and its not uploaded........no time to repeat it now sorry, but the welcome is the same and be kind to yourself xx
-
Thanks Ladies,
Another day has dawned and I can try again. Maybe I'll get some work done today?

-
CB, welcome to the thread. I could use a cup of ambition! ;o)

Good morning hermits- I have been in the kitchen this morning making some food for the week ahead! I thawed out some frozen green chilis (NM is famous for our chilis), and have a crock pot going of pueblo green chili stew. The house smells so good!
My local video/book store had a 20% sale on everything yesterday, and I came away with a new cookbook that features 200 recipes for soups. Going to be fun to new recipes as we go along!

Teka- I am not into football, but going to a party later today to see some friends I never get to see otherwise. Going for food and friends, and that is enough for me. Bringing fruit to balance out the wings, dips and other things? I have not been invited to a Superbowl party in like 14 years? So I decided I MUST GO!
Wishing hermits a good day and hope your team wins if you have one playing!
-
The stew must be delicious!
Yes, fruit is a good choice and will be enjoyed.
Is the game over? ;o))

-
Hi friends- Superbowl party was awesome! My fruit was a much enjoyed addition to the table of good eats. Lots of wings, dips, sugary things and more. I made it an non-alcoholic event for myself, as I have some important executive meetings with the client today. I did not want to be hung over or even loggy. That was a good choice for me, waking up feeling good and clear today.
I left before the game was over as I had some things to do before the work week begins and came home to see the Bronco's won. There will be a haze over the city this week no doubt (LOL!)
Teka- the green chili stew came out well. Got a pretty good kick too it. I shared some with my neighbor yesterday too. The rest is in the fridge, and will be enjoyed for some evening meals this week, or frozen.
Smurfette- red is my favorite color, so whenever it is a color choice with anything, I buy it!
Wishing you all a good week!
-
Teka........agree with you.......didn't care who won...........even though I'm from Eagles country, I love Tom Brady.......................but did watch it with my son's family.....more the food then the game.....LO
-
Good evening- I wanted to share some updates here on the Hermits thread about Blondie. I met her here and think some of you have too, although she has been on many threads.
-
Good morning sweeties!
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL day!
I've found new hope this morning and wanted to share this thought, just in case it works for you.
I couldn't sleep last night, AGAIN. There must be a reason that our minds don't let our bodies sleep. Some reason why we stay awake for hours and worry? Well, we must have a problem.
In the business that I'm in, we get 1 hour to solve the problem. We can think about the problem for 5 minutes then we have to focus on the solution for 55 minutes. If I remember correctly, that's a Tony Robbins trick from his seminars??? It is! He says, "Focus on where you want to go not on what you fear."
DUH! Once the problem's 5 minutes were up, I could focus on the solution and ultimately get to sleep. I used another Tony Robbins trick, 'where I wanted to go' translated into: what would be the perfect scenario? What do I want to see happen? Once I decided what I wanted to see happen I was able to make it happen.
Focus is so hard to come by with all the problems that we're facing but just remembering that trick from the office made things look so much better this morning. I found a little bit of control.
Some things in life just kick your a$$ and you have to figure out a new way to kick back. I'm going down kicking and screaming and solving problems one at a time.
cb
PS Am I old school for using a 1980s pop culture technique to solve a new millennium problem?
-
JazzyGirl - Those chillies are making me hungry. I think I could eat them on anything! I'm not even kidding, chocolate cake and chillies...YUM!
-
CB- my experience is that night time was the only time my mind could catch up with what was happening. So much was thrown at us so fast to absorb and make decisions around. I felt like a zombie most of the time during dx and treatment (and I was working through some of it too), and was exhausted when I went to bed but often woke up just thinking. That being said, finding ways to work through the middle of the night stuff is a good thing.
Heck, I apply things I learned before the 80s to my world. I will join you in the old school world girlfriend
There is chocolate with chilis sold here in NM. Red chili in the chocolate bar. It has a nice kick!
-
I am still around but preoccupied with gut issues and feeling bleh as a result.............now to add to my feeling sexy for Valentines I am told I am very atrophied.............and have pelvic inflammation, unspecific but could be bladder infection, having tests next week as no appts avail for test this week........!!
THe day before had another test, where technician asked me if it was in my nodes etc and when I said yes pulled a "oh no you are going to die soon" face........I have half brushed it off as I know I know more about the kind of cáncer I had than she does, BUT it does niggle me that they behave like that, really do not need the weight of their beliefs as well
Feel a bit ground down.........been going on for weeks........
Hoping everyone is ok? xx
-
JEEZ BB that is appalling...........they really do need more training in patient doctor interface conduct..!!!!! Or rather simple empathic humanity
-
Group hug friends.

-
Lovely, thank you
-
Hey Teka......

-
BB- grumpy cat has a way of making us all smile. Teka is a big grumpy cat fan. Glad you like it.
Wishing everyone a peaceful V-day weekend. For those of you with spouses, may they treat you like royalty. For the single gals out there (and yes I am one too), do something nice for yourself this weekend even if it is a nice warm soak in the tub.
-
*Good Morning Hermits*
I do love grumpy cat and will be having a nice warm soak in the tub!!
Husband is cooking breakfast. ;o)
