Naturally Curly Hair Regrowth-Ingrown Hairs? Folliculitis?

I have/had really thick and really curly hair (Mixed-Race folks, Latinas, African-Americans, Naturally Curly folks - please weigh in) of which 98-99% fell off.  Now 2 weeks later it is growing back but I have pimples and ingrown hairs as a result of the regrowth.  Have you experienced this and what did you do?  My onc suggested peroxide and sea breeze.  I fear these will be too harsh/drying and result in a "hardening" of this delicate skin preventing the hairs from emerging succesfully.  Has anyone used another remedy? An antibiotic or other item?

    Hello to you.

Sorry for what you are going through. Particularly sorry that it appears as if you didn't get a response to your questions. I have a few suggestions if you haven't already tried them.

First, have you seen or been referred to a dermatologist? Maybe he/she can prescribe something to remedy the situation.

Secondly, Emu oil might help. It supposedly acts as an antifungal and should be gentle enough to use on your scalp w/o causing irritation. Organic Aloe Vera Oil/Gel might help also. Lily of the Valley or Desert (can't remember which ) is a brand sold in most health food stores.

It is my hope that some of my advice was helpful to you.

Best of luck and God bless!

hi there - i had TERRIBLE foliculitis...  so weighing in even though i am not a woman of color.

wash with hibiclens - then massage a solution of salicylic acid onto your head and allow to dry....  the combo will take care of the evil pimples...  i had a dramatic improvement in the evil pimples over the course of just days.  i did it every single day after that.... and holy smokes but those pimples were evil!
