dogs - that may be a CMP which sheds more light on liver function.  I don't think infobabe is using hormonal therapy though.

Oh right - I just realized she is on Tamoxafin (or will be) but won't she get that test if she takes that?

I don't want to speak for her but after reading back I believe she opted out of Tamoxifen after the consult.

Yes, and that is why those bloood tests never came under my radar.

I started on Tomoxifen with half doses but I find that they are useless for my situation so I don't take it anymore.

infobabe - the CMP is a common blood test that is usually run by primary care docs for an annual physical, or they use it if you are going to begin taking a med and they need to check your liver or kidney function. People have them all the time with routine blood tests and never even know unless something wacky shows up! It is not an oncology specific test, but the tumor marker type tests would be.

Thank you to everybody that has responded.

I'm going with mom Monday to her RO appt. to see what the doc is recommending- I'm hoping they say no rads, but want to be prepared for the other options. I know it's mom's choice, but I'll be along to make sure all her options are fully explored. We will also seek out a second opinion if not happy.

I'll post again when I know more.

Thanks again to all of you!

Well, I am all clear with my RO and based on my 2nd opinion pathology report, am having no further treatment other than mammograms.  Next one up is in September.

It is hard to get all the worry out of my mind and I guess we never stop worrying once faced with a potentially fatal disease.

Great news Infobabe! So happy for you that you only need mammograms from now on.

I had my appointment with my primary physician yesterday and she supports my decision to have no further treatment but mammograms.  I have my first mammogram since diagnosis next month.  Then I see my MO who has been on maternity leave.  I will report back here then.

That will end my story, I hope.  I will continue to read this board and post occasionally when I think I have something worthwhile to say.  It is going to be odd no longer going through the journey with my sisters.  But I will be here.  I am optimistic, but I guess we never stop worrying.
