Granellie, I agree that it is so sad that you use the term "flaunting it" when you talk about going flat! To me it is realistic. As I am known to say, "Why should I wear fake boobs to make YOU feel comfortable!!" I said that 4 years ago and I feel that way now. Too BAD if you are uncomfortable about my breast cancer diagnosis (not "you" personally, the public "you") I am not going to exacerbate my LE and wear a bra stuffed with something from my sewing room just to please you! My husband is proud that I have the balls to stand up straight and be me. I wear no foobs for no man.

I do know that my Dad must be spinning in his grave as I continue to be flat, so I do understand the older generations' take on the situation. But still, why should I inconvenience myself when I've done nothing wrong except get breast cancer? Now, if I had a tatoo that was inappropriate, I would believe in keeping that covered up in public. Things like that, that I did to myself (I didn't), I understand. But God gave me this new body and I'm not ashamed of it.

    barbe1958, thanks for your response.

There is nothing to do BUT accept and make the best of what IS. It's taken the most time and effort for me to accept the physical reality of the new terrain on my chest. It's not a pretty site or sight. As we passed the tattoo shops in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg on our way to the mountains for that weekend gathering of longtime friends, it crossed my mind to get a vine of Morning Glories to twine across the scars. I have a nice little deep depression in the middle of my chest, perfect for the center of a blossom. I'm told that it will flatten out over time along with the other swellings and bulges.

Before all this I had never even heard the term "fat necrosis." In the meantime, I rub Bio Oil across the incision lines that wrap from under one arm to the other. I've also found Arnica gel cuts the sporadic pain I feel in my chest above the (non)breast line. I'm reluctant to use deorderant and have found that Gold Bond powder keeps my underarms and creases under the "water balloons" hanging from my sides dry (a squeeze on the sides of the bottle spritzes just enough powder to those areas).

My prayers and thoughts are with any of my "sisters" caught in the BIG storm.
