Can an App help a cancer patient and their family?

I lost both my parents to cancer. My Mom died 18 months after being diagnosed with breast cancer. When she went through treatment, I often took her to her chemo sessions, sometimes I could stay, and other times could not due to work. It wasn't always easy to coordinate rides or meals or other aspects of her life and she struggled to cope with all the aspects of cancer treatment and what it does to a person.

I have two questions:

1. What are the biggest logistical issues that face a patient and their family while the diagnosis and treatment process are occuring? What has your experience been?

2. Do apps on cell phones have any place in helping to address any of the problems identified above?
