    Hi there

I am not an expert but I hope this helps. I was diagnosed with DCIS last year and prior to that I had become vegan for 2 years! I found these chicken style mock meat pieces that I used to eat nearly every other day  (I loved the taste and they were quick to just pan fry and throw into meals as was a bit of a lazy cook lol). Anyway after my diagnosis I just couldn't understand how I could get this, being healthy, vegan, a non-smoker, rarely drinking etc and now overweight. However I don't beat myself up over that now and do understand that lifestyle is not always a factor. However I realised these chicken pieces contained Soya Protein Isolate. I started to research it and found a great website www.foodsforbreastcancer.com and it contained quite a stark warning about this ingredient and saying it was NOT recommended. I don't buy them anymore, and although I still have soya I stick to soya milk and tofu (but I don't overdo it and have found different kinds of non-dairy milks). It is ironic that soya is recommended so much in treating the menopause, and that soya is generally seen as great for lowering breast cancer risk. However studies have shown in pre-menopausal women (like myself) it can lead to an faster growth of abnormal cells. Hmm I guess I will never know but would rather not have it. I guess cos it is a very highly processed form of soya that makes it not ideal either. I used to have protein shakes too which had soya and now I have hemp protein or pea protein shakes not sure how easy they are to get where you are. Or you could just get any type of milk (dairy or non) and mix some berries in it with some oats, or flaxseed that would be very healthy and nutritious. Hope that helps!
