Hi everyone,

Last Aug I began this journey with a mascetomy on one side followed by 5 months of chemo, 33 rounds of rads, ooph/hystectomy, and now aromosin.  When I went last week for my follow up from the surgery my gyn was concerned with how my left breast felt and called my surgeon and had my appointment with him moved up from Aug to Jul 2 and I see my gyn again in two more weeks.

All this still feels new to me in many ways.  I keep realizing how little I know.  I realize my recurrence is most likely to occur in the first two years. That came when I was excited to get my mediport out only to hear I may need it again before long.

What I am wondering is, can you have the same type of cancer come back so soon or is it usually a different type?  I am having occasion pain in my other - well, only breast now.  That's how I found out I had it to start with.  I am now in menopause (of course) so I thought tenderness and pain would go away but the nurse told me you can still have breast pain after menopause and the gyn did say he was just wanting to take every precaution.

I wanted both removed from the get go but the surgeon said if it comes back they will catch it quickly this time but I have not had a mammo, mri or any other scan since my surgery.  They were suppose to begin alternating a mri and mammo every 6 months this Aug.  I guess it will be sooner.

Thanks
