DCIS Stage 4

I am new to this sort of thing but wanted to share that in 2006 I was diagnosed with the above stage cancer. Everything I've read leads one to believe DCIS does not go beyond the milk duct. However, this was not the case with my cancer. My doctors stated they had never seen or heard of this before.

My milk gland exploded and basically splattered the cancer cells through out my breast tissue, entering my lymph nodes. The visual example I was given: "like a snow ball thrown against a brick wall".

The first signs were not not from swelling or a lump but from blood stains originating from my nipple area in my undergarments. Please ask questions and be pro-active.

I had the same thing! I was bleeding from my nipple which the BS initially thought were papillomas. Theydid a lumpectomy and when the dr went in, he said there were so many in the duct, they basically exploded out. That was the exact term he told my family after surgery. The biopsy went to 2 different pathology labs and both came back high grade DCIS. At that point, the BSsaid that the DCIS was all over right breast and the only way to know he will get rid of it wasby doing a MX. It also showed LCIS so we did a BMX. I'm 4 month post BMXand 2 days out from my exchange.

I'm not certain what path you're going to take, but please let me know if you haveany questions or want to chat.

    Best of lucky,

    Lauren
