whats the difference between peau d'orange and hair follicles and when does peau d'orange begin to occur

Hi jeandavis! With my IBC, the peau d' orange took about a month to show up. At first, I would press on my righ breast ( the infected breast) and it would look like many hair follicules, but when I would press or squeeze together the skin of the non infected breast, I would not see any "dots" as I call them. After about a month of all my other symptoms, the peau d' orange showed up, and I didn't have to press on the infected breast at all, they were there without having to squeeze my breast . I am a tiny bit concerned now as I have had my double mx and am going through radiation now. I have had the chemo, and I noticed the tiny dots again on my infected breast. I was also wondering if they were hair , or if the IBC is coming back again. I'm glad I found your post. I hope other women chime in, as I think it was a very interesting question. Do you have IBC or just some of the symptoms? I was treated for mastitis for a month on antibiotics and the pain would come and go, so I became confused. However, after a punch biopsy, my diagnosis came in with IDCand IBC. Good luck to you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I have the pin dots on the top of my breasts which are there in a laying down/leaning back position.



I have a dimpling look on the outer side of my breasts in any position.



Neither of these were present 2 weeks ago. Not sure which or even if either of these qualify as true peau d orange but both are a new finding for me.
