NEWBIE: IDC-triple neg? confused
Hi..
IDC, GRADE 3, ER weakly positive(1/3), PR neg, HER2 neg (1/3) ..
surgery for double mastectomy coming June14th. Surgeon says I do not have hormone reactor cancer. I have IDC,... but does that mean I have triple negative?
my GP originally read report results wrong, said ' you have estrogen reactor cancer' but you only have a 'little bit of cancer'...lol like being a little bit pregnant.
I know I have to wait for final results, but am wondering with my dx of now if I'm triple negative with IDC?
sure appreciate these forums!! don't feel so alone!
thanks~!

Welcome Cher56 - glad you found us.. although sorry you had to as well.
That must've been a comfort eh? Only a little bit of cancer.... like WTF ??? I do not know the answer to your question I am afraid.... but there are enough knowledgeble ladies on this forum who can maybe answer or help. I just wanted to say hi. Saying that though if your surgeon has said you do not have hormone reactor cancer I would guess you are TN - do you have a cancer help line you can call in the meantime???
I am pretty new to posting myself and these ladies are wonderful... this is a safe haven to scream, cry, laugh, bitch, ask questions (there is no such thing as a dumb question). We all support each other. Being TN, Luah recommended that I check out the "Calling all TNS" under this category. Absolutely great bunch of ladies - am sure someone will get back to you soon.
Hang in there.

Tazzy!! hey hi.. thanks so much for your hello! yah.. I was kinda miffed.. havent' seen GP yet. I was in middle of skin cancer: SCC on face & bowen's disease on leg, found my lump( by accident.. or was it?), during 1 of my face procedures told doc, he checked it, said he didnt' think it was anything.. wait a few weeks. ummm..........no. it wasn't a norm lump.. had a big peak. so i insisted to go mammo/us as duh.. i was faithful with checkups, mom died, I forgot to go for 2 yrs.. and whammo.
Still in shock at times too i guess eh? cant' have Rad bcuze of bad lungs & Rhuematoid Arthritis. scared about surgery cause I definitely will be put on respirator. I've been turned away from Anathesiologists before because of my lungs.
so the way things are panning out.. I wouldn't be surprised if TN (picking up lingo fast lol)... just the way of my life
drama drama drama.. now I'd like some comedy! lol
I could've had a single mast but, opting for double as I can't afford the possiblility of recurrance 5-10yrs, not with my lungs. crapola.. lol..
wow. your a 6cm. i'm a 1.5cm. was surprised when they said that is small. but thinking on your 6cm wow.
will hang in.. nothing else to do. lol

Glad you insisted with your doc not to wait a couple of weeks... geesh! You really are going through the wringer eh? Stories like that makes me thankful that I have a wonderful GP and all my healthcare team have been incredibly supportive.
Yeah mine was pretty large... guess if I had small boobs I would've found the lump quicker... being pretty large chested guess it could grow (was 8cm when I started chemo) without me even noticing ?!
It's only since I am coming to the end of my chemo (treatment #7 of 8 on June 1) that I even really wanted to admit about being TN... if we have to be here I am happy to be part of this extended family on these boards.
As for the lingo... yes we pick it up pretty quickly.... wish there was like a cheat sheet for all what they do use ha ha!
We have to hang in there... and as Kathyrnn on one of the other boards said "dont let bc rob us of a day'.
How's your weather down there.... beautiful here so far in the sunny Okanagan.

Cher: It sounds like your IDC may be a small tumour - have they estimated size? That said, of course, cancer is cancer, doesn't change that, unfortunately. It also sounds like it is weakly positive for estrogen, which would not make you a TN, but it really depends how receptive the tumour is. You will likely have a better idea once you get the pathology report following surgery. There are women on here who, with 3-5% receptivity, have gone on to hormone therapy like tamoxifen. I think you'll have to wait and see the final path results to know if that's an option for you.

Lush thanks. 1.5cm. Yes surgeon said is small actually ...seems large to me lol. Yes I read somewhere else the same explanation you spoke of. Weird you dont know whether to be glad of certain things or not. Just confused ad surgeon said..even with these scores it still means negative ..but I didn't know /understand aboutTN..but yep like you said...have to wait for final results ...ugg around June 21st.
Tazz..hooray almost done! Hang in there.
Time us marching sooo slow here. Weather gas been awesome! My dad's staying with me from Penticton ...gonna miss my holidays up there this summer!! -
The waiting is by far the worst. Whatever the results once you know you can get a plan and move forward. As someone said to me on here.... we are here for you.
Dont give up yet on summer holidays in Penticton.... you dont know yet.
Have a great day ladies.

Thanks Gals!
Right.. is a good thought. I just need to be patient & wait for final.
no sense me deciding my own fate with ER+ or TN.
maybe I won't even need chemo.. who knows. lol
Will have to move end july.. so a holiday will be nice for sure.
South Campground Okanagan lake (summerland) my BF lives there too
have a great day too & you too Luah!
