Movie about cancer survivor
Louise Hay---you can heal your life.
What do you think about that?

Hay described how in 1977 or 1978 she found she had cervical cancer, and how she came to the conclusion that by holding on to her resentment for her childhood abuse and rape she had contributed to its onset. She reported how she had refused conventional medical treatment, and began a regime of forgiveness, coupled with therapy, nutrition, reflexology and occasional enemas. She claimed in the interview that she rid herself of the cancer by this method, but declared that there is no doctor left alive who can confirm this story, while swearing to its truth.
This is an extract from wiki.
I think I would have more faith if she a/ revealed her name so that if she has lied about her past, it could be proven and b/ surely her medical records would be somewhere that she could have them released to prove her story.
As it is she has made a fortune from her self help book empire which may or may not have any actual curative value. If people reading her books get anything from them, even if it is just hope, than they are worthwhile to those people.
Personally Im one of those people that would need to have proof before spending a cent on her books or her movie. Doesnt help my opinion of her that she has had heaps of plastic surgery according to her photo and Ive always thought those people that push the holistic/nutrition cures all stuff would disavow all surgery, specially unnecessary surgery.
Just my 2 cents worth. Please dont get offended if you dont happen to agree with me. Im a sceptic of self help books in all gendres and have been for 20 years ever since a friend of mine sunk into a very deep depression whilst addicted to reading and following every word in them as gospel.

THe books themselves are enlightening! ive been using her positive affirmations regarding health for years. Dispite what she looks like......her message is a good one!

It's not that I think the mind can't cure cancer - I actually think that it could. BUT, you had better be a meditator on the level of Buddha or Ghandi if you are going to try it. I don't think the average person has the mind skills necessary to tackle something this big. It's like taking someone who can sing "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" and asking them to sing "Madama Butterfly." They won't be able to do it, no matter how much they want to.
One person's anecdote should not the basis for a treatment choice.
Edited to add: I do believe that the mind is a powerful tool in healing the body - meditation, guided imagery, positive affirmations are totally valid strategies. However, I wouldn't recommend them in lieu of more standard, proven treatments.

the affirmations are not to "cure cancer" or any other disease. But to see the origin of disease. breast cancer directly linked to issues regarding the heart chakra, nurturing.....so ive had a lot of alternative therapies working on that issue for myself. Its the issues in our life that we do not deal with that turn in to dis-ease in the body.....whether it be cancer or anything else.
Right Breast Problems: over protection, over bearing, difficulty in giving love.
affirmation for right breast issue:
I embrace and trust life knowing that I am safe and loved. I choose to love and be loved.
I do not use affirmations in lieu of conventional or even alternative therapies - but in conjunction - for my own inner work while going thru this cancer journey.

hugs to you - i feel your pain, i really do..... Since my dx, i have looked so hard in to my issues of intimacy....not in a blaming way that i used to, but in a way that I dont want to have that lack of depth to my relationships anymore. Marriage, friendships, what im doing with my life......the irrelevant ones have fallen away and my true friends are whats left. There is a lot more work to do on the heart chakra area, but im on track with working on it, instead of ignoring it. Facing cancer and my own mortality has shown me......what is important. The people who love me. Im looking forward, no regrets......
I have read some not nice things about Ms Hay.....i dont know if they are true, but the message came thru her. Shes not a perfect person.....but i believe in what she has to say about positive thinking......and what unresolved issues do to our bodies.
