Anyone Getting Calls from 877-871-7450? (Scam Cancer Research)
This is the second or third time I've gotten a call like this from 877-871-7450.
I checked Google and apparently they are trying to solicit donations for "cancer victims" for a scam research program. What they are phishing for is your credit card information.
So tonight I was very polite and told the young woman that I had already donated two breasts to breast cancer, and could they please send ME some money?
Gee, she got so snotty all of a sudden! Go figure!

LOL..I get so many calls from questionable organizations wanting money for breast cancer patients. After they tell me how they help ladies pay for their meds and their care....I usually say something like " good I'd like to apply for help then " LOLOL.. Then they say well I'll give u a number to call but I only call to get donations. Then they continue to try to get money from me even after I told them I want to apply for help LOLOLOL. I always tell them...I would think you would be ashamed asking me for money when I've told you I have stage 4 breast cancer and can not afford to help someone else when I have a hard time myself.

Get on the "Do Not Call " list. This does not apply to real charities, but it sounds like this is not, and then you can file a complaint if they call again.
Even with real charities, if they call you and you don't want to be called, say "I'm on the "Do Not Call" list, and I would like you to put me on your "Do Not Call " list. They are supposed to comply.
I made the mistake of forgetting to put my new number on the list, and boy I was getting telemarketing calls every night. I figured out I had forgotten to register my new number. They have 30 days I believe for it to be effective and on the exact date, the calls stopped.

I've gotten calls from that number but never knew where it was from - I don't answer any call from a number I don't recognize as figure its a scam and why should I waste even a second of my time on them. Family, friends, Drs, anybody who logically would be calling me are listed on my phone so I know who is calling.

Mazy - In the world of scams and telemarketing, there is no shame. So sorry your world is invaded by such thoughtless individuals...
TwoHobbies - we've been on the Do Not Call list ever since it started....
Hasn't made a bit of difference at all in some of the calls. I've reported every single telemarketer call we get and yet they keep coming - and no, I'm not talking about charities or political organizations. I mean the ones from "Cardholder Services" etc....
One day while we were out, we got over a dozen calls from the same number starting at 8 a.m. They called every five or six minutes.
Two days ago, we got a call from a telemarketer at 4 a.m.! We were sure it was the nursing home calling with some emergency about Mom.
But the sheer gall of supposedly raising funds in the name of "cancer research" only to get your credit card info seems like a new low to me.
Kicks - I don't answer numbers I don't recognize, either! Unfortunately, my elderly FIL has a number that shows up as "Private Number" on Caller ID....but if he doesn't get anyone at our home number, he'll immediately call my husband's cell phone.

Blessings - I understand answering if you don't know if it's FIL or not but I'm the oldest in our family and both sets of parents have been gone for many years. We do not have a 'landline' so all our calls are cell - basically we never make any calls that are not to family, all are on the same company - we never come close to using all our minutes but I'm still not going to answer unless I know who it is - so don't need a landline. The company Hubby works for is also on the same company so if I needed him in an emergency I'd call him on the company line and he knows to answer it no matter what he's doing - if I call him on his number then he'll call me back when it's convient if he's in the middle of something.
