Wife has a surgery date

Finally, we have a date and things are moving forward. Wife will be having a bilateral mast on June 8th. With some luck, reconstruction on the same day. We got some of the core biopsy path results at the onc today. Still learning what the numbers mean, the er and pr numbers were high (95 and 88). The onc did say that it's not a totally bad result, but I don't get all the technical stuff yet. Mostly, we learned that there is much more to learn after the surgery path results. Now we wait again.

So, we had surgery on Friday. Guess what I've learned. I can empty a JP with one hand, and turn a 4x4 gauze pad into Optimus Prime with the other. I can dress a drain site or surgery site in complete darkness at 4am. I now know how to wash a ladies hair, give a suppository, and put in a tampon. I know the names of all the doctors nurses and will flirt my tail off to get a quick call back. I now pray for Percocet to replace Dilaudid so I can sleep 4 hrs instead of 3 hrs at a time. I know that my wife's snoring is better and more relaxing than classical music.



Hi, my name is Robb, and I'm a caregiver. When I'm standing behind you in line at the grocery store with a bottle of prune juice, it actually is a medical emergency. When I can't make the gym at 5:30, it not because I want to skip legs and abs. When I don't return your " how is she" text immediately, it's not because your not important, just 2nd important. And BTW, I copy/pasted the response from the other eight concerned texters, who never made it to the hospital or house either. You will know me by my dried cracked hands from continuos washing and dark circles under my eyes. Oh yeah, I probably smell funny too.



This is for all the moms, dads, brothers, sisters, relatives, friends, and especially my brothers in arms The Seventy-Five percent who do the stuff others would rather not hear about. Hope you find a Pain Level = 0 day.

Hi Robb. What a great post. I showed it to my husband and he said "Amen brother!". For those of us lucky enough to have spouses taking their "in sickness and in health" vow seriously, thank you!

Recovery from the BMX has been going well. Things are starting to settle down. Wifey has been doing great and doing a lot for herself. She finally got to drive this week. We got staged. Stage I, 1.6 cm invasive, ER/ PR positive. Chemo starts July 12th. 6 rounds of TC. Whole new set of things to figure out.
