Any Ideas? Elevated pancreatic and liver enzymes

Options

Hi all

I really would appreciate your help / any expertise you can offer. I have just spent the weekend in hospital with abdominal pain in the middle and on the left. Blood tests showed elevated pancreatic / liver enzymes. I had not eaten very much since lunch Friday and by Sunday my enzyme tests results were improving through fasting (I was on a drip and pain killers through the night and nil my mouth in case I needed an operation). As my enzyme levels were improving, and it was a Bank Holiday weekend in the UK, the hospital sent me home with a letter for my doctor to order an urgent ultrasound. They said I was experiencing a text book case of gallstones. I had the the ultrasound today - gallbladder normal and no gallstones seen. They checked my liver and other major organs and all seemed fine. As my enzyme levels are still elevated, I have now been referred for a CT or MRI. I am really low. As you will see from my signature, I have had two bouts of breast cancer (in opposite breasts) within two years. Mum had ovarian cancer, her sister had breast cancer and her brother died of pancreatic cancer. I have a BRCA1 mutation of 'unknown significance'. I have wierd symptoms and these have persisted for months - it feels like I have a tight belt around my middle. It actually hurts when I breathe and I have a dull ache just under my breast bone and I feel ill when I eat. I get tired very easily and my blood pressure is very low 90/50 yet my heart rate is high even when resting (typically 100 beats per min) I have lost nearly half a stone in a week. I am still working - but sometimes it feels uncomfortable just to walk around!

I am hoping that all this is due to a benign condition. But a clean ultrasound has concerned me somewhat. If my enzyme levels were normal I would probably put my symptoms down to stress - but the symptoms have persisted over months. Any ideas anyone. I am soooo fed up with breast cancer!

One thing I can solve for you is that your heart rate will increase when your blood pressure is that low - its your body trying to get enough oxygen to your cells.  That's how it compensates - your heart beats faster.  Once you can get your blood pressure up, your heart rate should normalize.

I hope you get your answers soon, and that its something simple to fix.

Thank you for your response itsjustme10. I'm hoping it's something simple too. The frustrating thing is not knowing at the moment....
