MinusTwo, my problems this morning were on my Dell desktop with Firefox. Yesterday I was unable to connect on the desktop both with Firefox and Chrome, and on my iPad with Apple IOS and Firefox. That said, there may be some relationship to the browser, since I was blocked pretty much all day yesterday on IOS but at one point was able to get in on Firefox. But then that went down too. And then finally both came back.
When I was finally able to access the site after about 7 hours offline yesterday, I was surprised that there was no notice about outages, and there seemed to be posts from the period when I couldn't get in. So obviously some people were able to access the site while others were not.
I did have a problem submitting one of my posts this morning, but fortunately when I hit the back button, what I'd written was still there. Since then I highlight and copy everything I write before I attempt to post it, so that if it's lost, I can paste my reply into an new post.

I've had problems accessing the site. Sometimes I can access breastcancer.org, but clicking the Community link fails. I've gotten this error message using Chrome on Android.
-
Hey All, Our tech team seems to feel that the problems are resolved and that everyone needs to clear their browser cache and cookies.
When you use a browser, like Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc, it saves some information from websites in its cache and cookies. Clearing them fixes certain problems, like loading or formatting issues on sites. Best is probably to check support site in your specific browser for instructions.
Let us know if you need more assistance!

I had those " This site is not secure " issues. I called Microsoft ( nerds section ) and they changed a couple of my Int. Ex settings and have asked that I just monitor for any other issues. I'm hoping since se successfully logged in about five times ( maybe bc techs actually ) and all seems well. Probably didn't hurt to jiggle some of the Int Ex settings anyway.
-
I had issues too. Mine looked like what Serenity posted...about attackers. Was hoping it was not my computer. Better now. Thank goodness.

I clean browser after every use. One of the error messages I got on Friday July 24th really concerned me. This was after a reply went "poof". Logging back on took me to a different site ( I checked for typos in URL), followed by not being able to log on at all (same error as moth reported). It suggested that the site was not secure and that my personal information was compromised. The warning seemed to be from Microsoft, but probably was not. I did not click on anything in that window. But I closed browsers, cleaned history, turned off the WIFI, ran "Windows Defender", shutdown and ran errands. Using Lenovo laptop, Windows 10, Chrome, CenturyLink is the Internet provider. Have not checked to see if they reported any issues with Internet Service.

So relieved that things are working better! Thanks for sharing this information Everyone!

Has anyone else had to reset their password since the new and improved (🙄) site changes? I just had to do mine, first time it's happened. I've had trouble signing in several times since the unnecessary changes were made, but this time I couldn't sign on at all and had to change my password. It sucks!

For the past few days, if I am writing a post from my phone in the text box at the end of a thread using the rich text editor, my keyboard will close after each letter. This does not happen while using the plain text editor.
The problem seems to involve Google Chrome as it does not happen when I use Mozilla Firefox.
Android 7
Google Chrome 85.0.4183.81

Dear WC3,
We will pass along to our tech team.

I've been having the same problem with my phone, having to use plain text or the keyboard disappears. This is the only site I've noticed where it happens, and it doesn't happen on my PC.
-
Mods, Alice:
I have recently also experienced a similar thing when I attempt to use messaging on the Facebook website from my phone with Chrome in desktop mode. Over the years, there have been reports of the keyboard disappearing in Chrome after typing a letter and I don't know if a resolution was ever found but I believe it must be a bug that arises when Chrome is faced with interpreting some specific website code.

Dear Members,
Thanks for passing this along. We have reported all of your posts to out tech team.

Not sure what is happening but today I am having this afternoon to sign in again each time I log onto BC. Org. This was solved a couple o f pages back I think when some changes were being made to the sight and many people ( myself included ) somehow got caught up in things not working well. Fortunately for now that seems to be the only issue for me.
I hope it is temporary.

Just reporting same ongoing issue with Android Chrome keyboard disappearing in rich text.
I've heard from people who stopped/reduced posting as they don't know the workaround was to click plain text editor. You might consider an announcement while the bug is worked out. -
Why has the site been so unstable or unavailable for the last day or so?
-
The site wouldn't load and I got an error message at one point yesterday.
-
Sorry for the inconvenience -- there was a behind-the-scenes tech upgrade completed yesterday and the site is getting back on its feet. It should be all worked out by later this afternoon. In the meantime, if one browser does not work for you, try another, as some browsers have recovered faster than others.
Thanks!

I see all the huge blocks of text being added to the top of threads. Do you realize, that at, least for folks using tablets (and probably phones) as many of us are that you are pushing the initial thread post off the viewable first page area? I won’t even comment now on the “value” of some ofthe added info, but it could certainly be formatted to take up a lot less room at the top of the threads. Certainly the “last reviewed by” date for the doctor doesn’t have to be double spaced below the name. Lists of links could be linear, instead of separate lines, etc.

Thank you for your feedback, MelissaDallas. We'll pass this along to the team.

Mods, I noticed the same as MelissaDallas - on my iPad, with some forums when I click on a post I no longer see any of the post but just see the intro to the forum. The issue of using large blocks at the top of the page for content other than posts has been raised as a concern before.
As for the value of the added information, I'm kind of flabbergasted that the Stage IV Only forum now includes a reference to the hotly debated "30%" stat. Even if true (and the latest research suggests otherwise) this figure is by it's nature derived from a population of breast cancer patients diagnosed at least 10 years ago, and in most cases more like 20 or 30 years ago. Therefore this stat is almost certainly not valid for those diagnosed today and treated using current treatment protocols. In any case, what's the value of having that stat in the description of this forum?
Also within the Stage IV forum description, it says "While metastatic breast cancer may not go away completely, treatment may control it for a number of years. If one treatment stops working, there usually is another you can try." Did BCO run this statement by Stage IV patients?
The write-up for the Hormonal Therapy forum includes brand names (eg. Femara) rather than the name of the drugs themselves (eg. letrozole). I suspect more people take the generics so this might be confusing.
And the Benign Breast Conditions forum says "A safe place to worry for members who have not been diagnosed with breast cancer, but have concerns about their breasts." First off, having concerns about one's breasts does not equate to having a benign breast condition. Many of those with concerns about their breasts have health anxiety and nothing more. And are we seriously encouraging people to worry? Here I thought this forum was a place to share information, ask questions and get support from others dealing with similar issues, all of which would serve as a way to alleviate worries.
Shaking my head here.

Thank you, too, Beesie for your feedback. We'll also take this back to the team.

Mods - FOURTH time for this glitch in as many days. I'm using a Dell desktop if it makes any difference.
Scenario: reading a thread in 'my favorites'. FInish & hit "back to top". Then hit Favorites to go to the next thread. Everything is stuck. Won't move forward, won't move back. I can't even 'sign out'. All four times I finally just closed out thread with it stuck thinking & still logged on.
Anyone else? Any thoughts?

Mods: It just happened again & dumped me from BCO. Here's the message that came up on my screen.

Dear MinusTwo,

Oh no- as usual anything I paste doesn't work. Here's what the message said:
500 Internal Server Error. If you are the administrator of this website, then please read this web application's log file and/or the web server's log file to find out what went wrong.
-
Dear MinusTwo,
It happened once to us but since we have not been able to replicate that problem. Can you say which what device, browser and operating system are you using?
The Mods
-
Yup - Asus desk top computer. Windows 10. Firefox browser. All with current software upgrades.
-
Thanks.
