More Test and More Surgery. What to do.

I apologize in advance I do not know all the termanology for BC.  I was just diagnosed with DCIS in Feb. 2012.  I have had a lumpectomy the margins were clear but not a wide margin.  Surgeon wants to go back and get a clear margin.  I'm okay with that.  However, in the meantime they relooked at my MRI and want to check two other areas before doing surgery again.  Biopsy came back negative.  Great news right?  But, they now want to do an MRI biopsy to make sure they are negative.  I told them no, that I'm through with test.  Just do the surgery so I can get on with my treatments.  Am I making the right decision?

Why are they concerned that the biopsy after your MRI was not accurate?

They can't believe that what they saw on the MRI was negative.  So, now they want to do a MRI directed biopsy to double make sure.  I'm so tired of test.

I hear you on bring tired of tests, but double-sure sounds good to me if there is still some concern. You can have the mri-guided biopsy or just move on with treatment. Which would give you more peace of mind in the years to come?

If you think you may worry about it......id go ahead and have the biopsy.

Hopefully it will also come out negative

I personally would not rest easy with "unknowns"... But that's me.

When you say - get on with the treatments - is that rads and/or chemo?  Hormone therapy?

Good luck - this is definitely a hugely stressful time.

Well I have decided to do the MRI biopsy's.  Hopefully, they come out negative and I just have to have the one surgery of the margins.  I had 6 nodes removed and the first one had a teny tiny spot on it.  So, doc said we are through with nodes.  Just want to get a wider clearer margin.  So, after the MRI is done(two weeks out) I will know exactly what type of surgery.  Then, I can start my treatments and on my way to recovery.  Treatments are Chemo(4 treatments every 3 weeks)/Rad(5 weeks)/Hormone therapy(5 years).  Thank you all for your advice and comments.
