That's great to hear Catmac and wilson! My news also good! Had examination by very nice dr who said he felt moveable lumps in my breast but didn't feel there was anything suspicious...then had very thorough US, she seemed to take ages and ages examining my armpit, nipples and breast (I was v nervous at this point as she took longer than the last time) and then confirmed that I had multiple cysts (just above nipple on the left hand side) but that everything else was normal. She drained them there and then. Dr discharged me straight after....phew!

Thank you everyone, I am very relieved that all of your appointments ended positively....Do you guys have more peace of mind now? I am interested in hearing about this steriod cream Wilson. What will it do? and what are your doctors thoughts on it.....and Viola...did your doctor sample the fluid in the cysts?

Hi CatMac, no I think here in the UK they only sample the fluid if it looks suspicious (isn't clear/has blood)....last year they didn't either.

Hi catmac, I am thrilled with the appointment and with the way the doctors were. I kind of feel like my gp has let me down by not listening to me and understanding the frustration. I cried myself to sleep last night in utter relief but the burning meant I can't sleep on my side as it hurt.  I am optomistic and I have a feeling the cream will work :) How do you feel about your test results are you a bit unsure?

About the steroid cream it is "potent" states on the tube lol. It reduces inflamation and the flaking will stop but the dies effects are itching, burning and pain lol, which are the symptoms I have haha but long use thins the skin out and makes my veins stand to attention on my breast.  My face will blow out like a puffer fish but will hopefully work :)

    Hi Viola

The fluid drained from your cysts will be examined under a microscope, whether clear or bloody.  When you went to clinic, were you not given a breast care nurse number to call?

No, exactly the same happened last year too - discharged after seeing the dr with no mention of any call back re fluid testing...

No, they probably will not give you a call back request to receive results, but it will be tested.  By law.  They are not allowed to throw it away down the sink, it will be off to a lab.  You will have been discharged from clinic, because it was a cyst.  I have learned this, from when I had to insist, that something was not right with me, (completely different set of circumstances, but still benign)  I was discharged by mistake.  When I had my initial examination, there was a nurse in the room, who was a breast care nurse, I asked her if there was an after care line.  She said yes, I found the number, called her and she got me my results up, as I pressed her, so I had the results in before I went for my results appointment. Am not stating that you need to call for results, just bear in mind that any fluid withdrawn from you, is tested, as the clinical report will have be required to close your case notes.

Then your case notes, will go off to a library, where if needed again, will be brought back to clinic, should you for whatever reason have to return to clinic.

Wilson33, the opportunity to have seen my mammo personally and to have seen that there was physically no areas of question, etc, where one would think...hmm, maybe they missed something, really helped a lot to put me at ease....However, as you described, having this burning pain, although diminished at this point in my cycle, is still unsettling for me....Im sure you know how it is.....it reminds you of the time you had pain and you were not sure what it was. It is like going through this whole predicament all over again. I already have anxiety about how it will feel the middle of my next cycle. After a long talk with my doctor, I feel that it is very well possible that my issue is hormonal, and in the meantime, I am going to go to a homeopath and see if she can help me make some changes in my life that will decrease the pain or make it go away. I believe I have also heard something about this salve....but did not know that there are steroids in it. Did your doctor tell you why that would be of help? Hey Viola, I am glad that you were satisfied with your appointment. Let us know what happens with the fluid, regardless of the out come!

Hi catmac, the pain is still there and getting me down, I get a few days relief from it but can't tell you where in my cyce it is because it is different from one day to the next.  I know exactly how you feel and how you feel something may have been missed. The steroid cream I am on is a strong "potent" for eczema, I was in and out within 5 mins as pleasant as the consultant was 3 mins of that was me crying with relief and mixed feelings. I don't feel the burning in my nipple and breast and sometimes radiating into my armpit is eczema. I am not however a consultant so have accepted it and will do the cream thing for 6 weeks which gives me the same symptoms as what I am having - talk about torture. I have been doing lifestyle changes before all this happened and have dropped 2 dress sizes, I have massages ona  regular basis but feel I am not coping with this as well as I should. I am seeing gp after my next cycle as my monthly period is not so monthly and longer. How are you feeling with the diagnosis? And deffinately want to know viola's outcome of fluid test :) One positive I have to say is that since all of this my migraines have almost vanished :)

    Hi Wilson,

Viola will never likely know the results of her fluid test, I said, it would be tested.  But because of the benign status of her condition, her case is closed.

    Yes?

Hey Wilson, sounds like perhaps knowing a little bit more about your breast pain, has helped relieve some of your stress. I know it is difficult to wait and to see what will work this month. But just try and be patient with yourself and take one step at a time. Making life style changes can really help a whole lot....even if it does not help the symptoms 100%, it is always good to make a change, so that in the long run, you can take care of your mind and soul. My next step is making an appointment with my OB to check my hormone levels. The surgeon suggested I do this, as she felt my symptoms were mostly hormonal do to 0 findings on the mammo and ultrasound. I also plan on making an appointment with pcp to have him do a thorough thyroid check on me to make sure all that is in check. I will also start taking Vit B for stress. It was suggested by a chiropractor here and then I will also visit a homeopath so that she can help me, in a natural way, to put what ever might be out of wack, hormones back on line. I will not take the pill and hormone therapie does not come into question since I have a history of depression....so that is my plan of attack for now. I am otherwise feeling ok....I am not day 26 in my cycle and have peace. Usually between day 20 and my period I have no symptoms...stay calm, focused, and positive...you will find your answers...

Hi Catmac, I feel the same I do have some relief and then start thinking it is all in my head until then I get hit hard with the burning etc, I have been on a diet and lost nearly 2 stone so health wise I feel I am getting there, there were issues with my pertuitry gland but not enough to for dramatic action same as vitamin d so taking as many herbal things as possible I am not one for being pumped with drugs. Vitamin B sounds like a good idea will ask about that. My periods are all out of whack as are my hormaones I think as I too am in a calm place today :) Please keep meposted of anything you find that works for you. I shall  let you know how I go on with thermography I am looking up the pro's and con's at the moment but hoping to make an appointment today for a week to two weeks time I am not sure if there is a waiting list.  Have a great day :)
