Rad after reconstruction and before chemo

I'm very confident in my surgeons, radiologist and oncologist but need to get some feed back from others who have the knowledge and experience I'm lacking. I was dx 2/17/12 with what appeared at that time as a "simple" breast cancer <1cm. With every biopsy and MRI the situation became more complex. After meeting with my onco we both agreed that a BMX would be best option and he suggested at that time that I might be interested in having an imediate DIEP flap repair. Surgeons in NM do not do this process and eventually was referred to PRMA in San Antonio who have an awsome reputation. It was agreed that they would do the surgery but if radiation was needed that I would have it done in San Antonio with a radiologist who was experience with working with flap reconstruction to prevent damage to the repairs. BMX was a wise decision as precancerous cells found in right breast and two primary of two different types of cancer and each with multiple secondary sites throughout my left breast. Size of 2 primary were >5cm with an additional site found below the breast after they thought all breast tissue had been removed (hidden away in a crease). Due to this I am to have radiation but this is to be done before chemo since I'm already here and have temporary housing rather then making a second trip here after chemo. I was told that this was unorthodox but not unheard of. I still don't have a definite "go" on the chemo but I'm prepared to do whatever it takes. I have an appointment with the radiologist for my markings on Monday but not sure how everything is going to play out since I was placed on abx last week by the PS for what might have been a possible infection in my left breast but now appears to be a definite with the on-call doubling my dose this weekend.

I guess I just need to know if anyone has heard of a similar situation and how it played out. As I've said I have confidence in my physicians but I haven't seen or heard of this situation on this site even after searching.

Thank you for any information you can give me - Carol
