Ok, so I am one full year out from treatment And have been given a stellar relocation offer with my company. I would move about 400 miles away from all my doctors. Nurses, and dearest friends for without whom I couldn't have made this journey. My gut says go, take the offer. (it's a great offer). My dear partner is all and I am too, I just need to figure away to shake the sadness.

So. Have you moved after treatment?

What tips do you have for moving?

Did you take a copy of your oncologists' file with you?

Thanks for any input. I'm super nervous but so excited

I did.  I finished chemo in May and had my exchange surgery in June.  We moved in August.  We moved from Detroit area to Chicago.  All of our family and friends are in Detroit.  I have had to start all over with new doctors.  I had to complete the rest of my reconstruction here (for nips/areolas).  I found a great PS here and he did an excellent job on the rest of my reconstruction.  He was recommended by my PS in MI.  I am not happy with my new med onc so I am going to a new one....  I just got a new gyno and I got a new internist in October.  It has been a little bit of a pain but quite honestly once you get set up with the doctors you like, you only go every few months (for the med onc at least).  I have been getting records sent from previous docs to new docs.

As far as leaving family and friends....it has been a bit hard but I really love the new area we live in.  We have a beautiful new home and the area is so pretty.  The people are friendly and overall we are very happy.  Life is good for me.  Since Detroit is only a 5 hour drive from here it makes it easy to see family and friends.  We have had several visitors already and we have gone back to MI a few times - in fact we are going again this weekend.  We just plan in advance when we will go back to MI and we have pleny of room here for family and friends to visit.  Overall, we are really OK with our move and like our new city.

I know it is overwhelming, but you will make the right decision.  Good luck!
