Of course there is hope! I think you will find that lots of folks on this board have such a diagnosis! Your nodes were negative which is a great sign! The treatment is very effective for this type of tumor. So, yes, it is not the best news in the world--but usually quite manageable! Hang in there.

First of all Sally, I am sorry that this was your news. I was there about 20 months ago. I am more than fine now.
I was grateful to learn that my cancer would most likely be cured. This was after I found the lump in my lymph nodes. So a not fun time ahead, but we do get through it. I would describe as a major slog, but I have had other not fun things happen in life.
At this point, I am fitter than ever and on top of my game. So thrilled to be here, and I don't waste any of these marvelous days I have been given. Too much stuff to do.
It's a lot to take in at this point. If there is any "silver lining" to this cloud, it's that you will most likely need relatively aggressive treatment so none of these "which one" decisions. That is almost always the case with Grade 3 tumors. Plus herceptin.
Good luck! Most of us feel better once everything is out of our bodies and we have a treatment plan in place.
As for feeling down, I used exercise to help. Before, during, and after treatment. It will help you gain perspective.....and feel better. - Claire

You aren't the only one.. I had it too. Now moving through the treatments and my specialists are all very positive.

Here is the great news: you have a node negative, early stage aggressive breast cancer that is HER2+. Crazy? No, although I though my oncologist was when she said this to me over 5 years ago. I have since learned she was right.
Because you have a grade 3 tumor, chemotherapy will be very, very effective for you as chemo works best on cells that are dividing rapidly (grade 3). On top of that you can have herceptin - a miracle drug for HER2+ breast cancer.
The odds are that chemo and herceptin will beat the BC into remission and you will die from something else in the distant future.

Me,in the nodes, but also with Inflammatory bc.

I am in your club...I had invasion too. It freaked me out but at this point I am doing great. I did do chemo just in case...who knows if it matters or not but I know I did everything I could. I am also on tamoxifen too. My docs have all been very positive and said they would be more concerned if I had HER2 + than LVI. Hugs!!
