Another Oncotype question
In talking with my RO about my pending oncotype result, he predicted that because of my highly positive ER that the oncotype would come back very low. I hadn't heard that before and am now curious! How many of you have had a low oncotype score(what score) and are highly ER positive(what percent)?

Mary 99% ER onco score of 24! My BS and I were very surprised my score was so high. I've come to the conclusion there is no way to figure it out!
-
Thank you, Kira! That echoes my thoughts!
-
I am highly ER/PR+ (90% and 70%) and my oncotype came back at 25. Yes, my MO was a bit surprised by that number too. UGH
-
I'm highly ER/PR and mine came back low. (the high side of low) but still low.
-
I never got a percentage other than "highly ER/PR+" on pathology report. My oncotype was 17.
-
Thanks for the responses so far!
-
High ER+<<<< Onco type 15 and that was with node positive.
Good luck!!!
-
ER/PR 98%, my onco score was a 6
-
Onco score =9 ER score= 10.0 Pr Scroe = 9.9
-
My ER was 99%, don't remember PR. My oncotype came back 27.
Still, I did not do chemo.
-
er/pr+ onco 27--did chemo
-
Oncotype of 12 with an ER+ at 70% and PR+ at 90%. no chemo for me
BS did tell Intern in the room he'd never seen that before, higher PR than ER.
-
My ER was 100% and PR was 95%. Because of that, was not planning to do chemo - just Tamox., until Onco came back at 25, then added TCx4 to the gameplan.
-
I am waiting for my onca results. I was told I am ER+. The doctor said she doesn't think I will need chemo, but didn't tell me my ER score or why she didn't think I would need it. Can you tell me what chemo typically involves when the onca score comes back high. I asked my MO and she said probably 3-6 months of chemo but not to think about that yet until we know the score. i am wondering if it will be once a week, etc. Thank you, Michele
-
ER was 90%, Oncotype was 9,
-
This is getting more and more interesting! Thank you all for your responses! Apparently, there is no parallel between the high ER and oncotype score as my RO had mentioned.
Michele, I'm sure someone more experienced can give you a better answer but I'll take a shot. I believe that chemo is tailored to each individual as all of our cancers are different. I am waiting on my score also. My MO has said that if the score comes back intermediate to high, she will recommend TC X 4. That would be once every 3 weeks, 4 times....total of 2 months or so.

Hi Mary
Mine was 17% chance of recurrance.....much higher than I wanted to hear. I called the Company direct and had a very informative discussion with them. My Doctor did not recommend chemo based on my stats. In conclusion I found that this number represents a cross section of the whole population of women with my same stats and tumor condition. That includes women much older and much younger. WOmen of various stages of health and lifestyles. In the end my MO told me to take charge of my destiny and focus on making ME healthy. That is the best we can do. We can't ask anymore from ourselves. I hope that helps you. -
BTW Mine was 95% ER and 95% PR. No chemo.
-
95% ER, 90% PR, Oncotype 14. Never heard there was a connection between these.
-
ER 90%, PR 70%, Oncotype 15. Age 61. I chose no chemo although my MO summarily gives 6 TC to anyone with Stage 2. It doesn't sound to me like he tailors treatment to the patient. I can't see any rhyme or reason to the Oncotype scores posted here yet!
-
Hi Mary,
Just thought I would put in my two cents worth....
I was 99% ER + and I think about 87 % PR +..my score was 14% ...at the time I had no clue what this meant..I knew I had node involvement and I knew my cells were grade 3...I think everyone was surprised my score was low...to be honest I still do not understand what it all means. I did 6 rounds chemo and 28 rads.
Good luck to you ..I'm sure you will make the right choice.

So much is involved in what the oncotype is. It's not just % of ER or PR. 90% ER+ strongly stained is different than 90% weakly stained. Proliferation indicators like Ki 67 weigh heavily on the score.
-
More than 95% estrogen positive, more than 90% progesterone positive-Oncotype 8, stage 1 and grade 1
-
Well it's a factor, as is Ki67, but even with high ER and low KI I came back intermediate.
Oncotype predicts response to tamox, response to chemo.
High ER does responds well to Tamox/AI's, it can be a factor in not being as responsive to chemo.
It's funny, my MO said the exact same thing, and my rads onc said essentially don't count your chickens before they hatch!
-
Oncoscore of 4, ER+99%,PR+90% & grade 1. I ended up being stage 2 because of positive nodes. So, I guess my tumors had been there undetected for sometime.
-
My brain wasn't functioning well in my last posting so am adding that even if you are HER2 -, any HER2 activity will raise your oncotype score over someone with none. HER2 1+ and some HER2 2+ are not considered HER2 positive (yes it can be confusing), but this will raise your oncotype score. A low %PR will also raise it.
-
99%ER & 96%PR - Oncotype of 23. Chemo and rads. Since my tumor was Grade 3, the MO said the Oncotype would tell him which chemo regimen to use.
-
Hi Girls,
Wanted to correct my earlier post....I was not thinking about the correct test ..when someone mentioned the Ki67 test..it made my realize...so I must not have had the Oncotype test, I had the Ki67 test and THAT is what came back 14%...sorry to post here in error.
-
Thank you all for your responses. I didn't think the idea that a higher percentage positive ER would always generate a low onco score but wasn't going to argue. Just figured I would run it by you ladies since you all seem to be well-educated about the oncotype dx. I'll let you know what my score ends up when I get it next week!!
-
ER 95%, PR 98%. Oncotype 14 (9% chance of recurrence). No chemo.
My onc told me that she can predict whether onco will be high or low by looking at ER%, PR%, KI67% and grade. She was right with me.
