I usually use unweighted foam forms, like the Amoena Leisure form, style 126. There are many others like it.
I just read about a new swim/leisure form from TruLife and I'm hoping to try it out soon. It's called AquaFlow Swim/Activity form. Here's a link from one of the few sites that's selling it so far: http://www.parkmastectomy.com/product/Trulife_630.html. It has microbeads and foam and is slightly weighted, which all sounds good. Plus, the manufacturer claims it dries quickly, which would be great.
I'm always pleased to see new forms like this one being developed. I hope this is an improvement over other options. If anyone has already tried it, what do you think?

Mastectomy boutiques should have some swimsuits, too. I looked at some at our local mastectomy boutique, and saw lots of different styles. They were incredibly expensive though.
There are more threads in this forum topic about swimsuits and breastforms for swimming.
I have read about women purchasing from Land's End, but I don't know if they were referring to wearing breastforms or going flat.

Thanks for the info..I have so many swimsuits I hate to not use them some how, my swim forms are way to heavy

Barbara, I went to my fitter today for LE garments and she was excited to show me the AquaFlow forms she has in. I was impressed with the way it felt and moved--formed well to whatever lumps and bumps might be behind it, and it moved the way a breast does (if that makes sense). Standing up it eases downward, but lying down it has the same "spread" as a real breast. The shape is full, too. I'm not in the market for a swim prosthesis, but if I was I'd certainly consider that. She mentioned it was also good for runners, and I could see that too. I think it "breathes" really well, so should be excellent for sports.
Off subject somewhat, but she also showed me the Trulife Impressions, which anchors itself well to your skin. It's not a swim form, it's a regular-wear form, but you don't need a pocket bra because it -- I don't know, it just doesn't budge once you put it in place. She said when she was helping one woman try one on she tried to reach in and move it into a slightly different position and it simply wasn't going anywhere. But it doesn't stick to the skin in the sense of adhesive--it's just the way it's made that makes it budge-proof. Interesting! Great to see innovations like these. I'd love to hear from anyone who's tried either.
Be well!

What worked best for me,was to sew an old mast bra into a regular swim suit..of course I cut it to fit in..and use a swim form.

Thanks for the tip on trulife impressions. The microbead form did not work for me and the silicone is too heavy!
-
Hi Binney,
The Impressions form used to be marketed as Radiant Impressions and was only available as a custom form (thousands of dollars, though insurance did sometimes pay), but TruLife bought the company and I'd read somewhere that they would be marketing a non-custom version. It sounds as if that's what you tried. I'm going to check it out! Thanks.
My only concern is the one I always have with silicone forms, that I'll perspire behind the form. Some women can tolerate this, but I find it unpleasant. At least with a form worn against the skin, as you describe the Impressions, I could go somewhere private and dry off, then be on my way. When I wear silicone in a pocketed bra and perspire, I'm left with a damp pocket against my skin that won't dry on its own. Sorry, probably TMI.

-
Barbara, no, that's not TMI, it's our reality!
The Impressions non-custom has "waves" on the back that I assume are intended to help keep your skin cool. Hard to describe, so I hope you can see it soon. The pictures are up, at least, on their website:http://trulife.com/all-products/womens-health/breast-forms/impressions-1/impressions
I'd love to hear how this works if anyone tries it.
Be well!

Hi all,
Regarding Lands End for mastectomy suits. I got on their site early to have a selection (last year they had none left in my size at all). I read the reviews and there were many that were unhappy saying that the pockets have an opening at the top which means you can see the form. I can't even imagine that. Anyway I didn't order one and I'm doing a search online for a suit. Another option is to have pockets sewn into a regular suit. Nordstroms will do it. if you don't buy the suit from them they charge $12 which is very reasonable. TLC sells the 'pockets' if you can sew or you could bring them to a tailor.

Hi Binney,
I had a chance to try the Impressions form today. My fitter had only one in my size (4), so I couldn't get the full bilateral effect. The good news -- as you know, the form is exceptionally light; it also conforms to my skin and stays put in a regular bra; I felt I might be able to wear it directly against my skin in an unpocketed bra as it didn't have the "sticky" feeling I usually get when I put silicone next to my skin; plus, I actually liked the shape (I find some TruLife forms droop too much for me). BUT (there's always a but, isn't there?
), the problem I had with the form is that under a somewhat shear bra it had a strange mottled appearance. It wasn't smooth, like a form normally would be. I like the simulated areola and nipple. What I'm referring to is the rest of the form. The form is also rather hard to arrange in a pocketed bra. The fitter (whom I like) said she's not too big on the form and commented that a number of women said that in pocketed bras, the form tends to almost stick to the pocket and is hard to adjust. In certain kinds of bras, though (more molded ones, where the mottling wouldn't come through), I think this form could be great. It certainly is the lightest all-silicone form I've ever tried. So, a qualified endorsement from me. I didn't like it enough to use my insurance allotment for it, but I think it's worth checking out for someone who's in the market for new forms.
I agree with you that it's great to see companies innovating. The fitter mentioned the new AquaFlow but hadn't received her shipment yet, so didn't have any for me to try. But I'll let you know when I do!

I bought a foam swim form from NicolaJane.co.uk It is great!! I t has a small metal weight inside to kept it from floating up. Cheap too - about GBP25 which is about 40USD I think. They have really great bathers too.

I just got back from Mexico...and I have to say I am so dissapointed with all my swimming forms

I just wanted to cry...sorry to be pitiful....I found the best thing was to take some fiberfill and form my own into a mas. swimsuit...

Tappy, Would you mind telling us what the issues were and what forms you had so we can hopefully learn from your experience.

Hi, I'm long absent from the boards, but I'm a uni-boob. I was a 34DD - still am on one side - so forms help me not feel so lop sided.
Anyway, I just got back from a vacation to St. John. I had never used a commercial swim form before - I just used a homemade insert in my backyard pool. Because this was a big deal vacation, I decided I needed big deal forms. I bought a Jodee 92 lightweight swim form. It is silicone and had an open pocket in the back to make it lighter. I also ordered a Trulife 630 AquaFlow Swim form. Although I ordered them about 6 weeks before vacation, only the Jodee showed up. I used it all vacation long in two different suits. It worked really well. It filled out my suit, didn't look lumpy or odd. Even my husband said it looked "normal."
The Trulife showed up while we were gone. I tried it this week. I don't like it nearly as much. It tends to lump up and spread unevenly when I get out of the pool. Somehow "adjusting my boob" isn't what I want to do when getting out of the water.
I realize I'm kind of large, but just wanted to give you my review of these two forms.
I purchased them over the internet. The fit charts were very accurate. I had some bad experiences with fitters in person. I've kind of shyed away from going to fitters. I've become a good reader of fit charts.

I truly appreciate the reviews! My fitter does not give me a chance to return anything, so it becomes a very stressful thing for me.
I am writing a list of products I wish to try, so again, thanks for the feedback.

i always buy Lands End and have not been disappointed. Unfortunately my weight goes up and down and I have a 10, 12, 14, and 16!! I travel a lot and snorkel so I get use out of them.
A question, last year I bought the Ameona, Aqua Wave, which is a very nice form, however, I have lost 22 pounds and now need a size 7. I can't afford another one. It looks like solid silicone. I am wondering if I can trim it? Anyone know? (any yes I plan to stay at this size once and for all!!!)
