MRI next week
ILC diagnosed in my right breast last Thursday. Still so new to me. I'm 43 years old. Pathology report showed not aggressive and it is hormone receptive. Chest x-ray and blood work already done, no results yet. MRI early next week. My fear is chance of being in left breast too. I guess they didn't find on Mammo any Pleomorphic Calc's but I know ILC often does not show on mammo, but might on MRI. What is the real chance?? That seems to be my main worry right now.
Taking day by day and so thankful that it is not aggressive in nature. Holding on to the positives.

Really good idea to have an MRI - it tends to spread to the other breast according to my onc. I had bilateral bc but only one was ILC. My surgeon neglected to get me to have an MRI and I found out a year later that there was bc in the other breast (IDC) and it was actually there the year before but didn't show on both views of the mammogram. I was lucky the ILC did show up on mammo.

Yes susieq58. MRI's are definitely the way to go I've found. After my ILC Dx, (I have only known a little over a week so very new at this), Dr. did MRI on both breasts. No ILC or Insitu in my left breast, just in the right breast. I will having a mastectomy on my right breast in 2-3 weeks. Yesterday was tough and i know I will have good and bad days. I'm am 43, so because of my age with ILC and other risk factors, a mastectomy is needed. I had two mammo's originally, but only showed Pleomorphic Calcifications, no tumor. Only with biopsy and MRI, did they see the ILC. I'm sorry you did not get the MRI right off the bat. It made it much harder on your then it was already. Yes, I'm a promotor now of MRI's. I'll be sending best thoughts to you for all you are going through.

Thanks - in a way, I'm not that upset as I managed to convince my new surgeon to do another lumpectomy on the other side. I hate surgery and a BMX was something I couldn't cope with at the time. I had a clear MRI last October and will have one every year alternated with mammo and ultrasound six months later. The second one only required rads, so at least I didn't have to have chemo again.
