I had a colonoscopy 5 years ago and 1 polyp was removed. Dr. Said not cancer but could become cancer so colonoscopies every 5 years. I do have a family history of CC. I'm due for my colonoscopy this year. Last month I found a lump in my right breast. Had mammogram and ultrasound. Abnormalities found. Biopsies we're done last week. Results for BC due at my appointment on Tuesday this week. Family history of BC also. I'm a nervous wreck right now but trying to stay busy and positive.

ATM Gene Mutation also puts you at increased risk for both breast and colon cancer. I have just been promoted to annual colonoscopies as my recent one had 15 small polyps, 4 of which were pre cancerous. Previous 3 colonoscopies has none or few polyps. I am 51. Hopefully can stay ahead of them

    Simone,

Ive had ibs with constipation since I was 30. Been reading a lot about the connection between CC and BC I'm convinced something is wrong with me. I had pneumonia a year ago and I have felt different since.. no energy at all. I get B12 injections and they don't help any more

Oh wow, that's awful. I too, have the ATM gene mutation. I had my first colonoscopy in 2015, for now I only have to have them every 5 years.

Update on me... Polyps in 2013 colonoscopy. Had pancreatitis in 2017 they did a colonoscopy and in was clean. The lump in my breast is a fibroadenoma and I'm having surgery to remove it July 23rd. At my next appointment I'm asking for the gene mutation tests, thanks for the info.

    Hi Cathy,

So glad to hear the breast lump is benign and you are getting rid of it! Hopefully you do not have mutation, but if you do, knowledge is power. You will be more closely screened and vigilant which will hopefully lead to a long life!

    Good luck
