Yesterday I FINALLY got my period! Woohoooo.  I am a little confused as to why I cant get back on birth control.  I know my doc has told me but this DAMN chemo brain is making me forget everything. I cant find anything online about it either. I am triple negative stage 2. I don't see whyI cant go back on.. any ideas what the doc doesn't want us in BC. Thanks

    Hi Tanya,

See what the main Breastcancer.org site has to say about Birth Control After Treatment.

    Hope this helps!

My doc said I couldn't use hormonal birth control because if the cancer were to come back, it

Could come back in a hormone positive form even though it was er negative. My nurse practitioner told me my only two options for birth control were getting my tubes tied or getting an iud. It might be different for you since you are stage two, I am not sure. What I can tell you is that using methods other than one recommended by her, resulted in pregnancy! Since I am less than a year out from treatment, and was still taking infusions called herceptin, this put me in a less than ideal situation. Best of luck to you and CONGRATS on getting your period back!!
