My daughter will start Mamos in her thirties and if hers are dense she will be insisting on US as well.

Ultrasound helps catch cancer in higher-risk women

What I found interesting was those individuals who are against US for intermediate risk women (patients with prior breast cancer hx), is their inconvience as too time consuming procedure for their staff and some added biopsies.  Also, that many insurance companies may not cover this additional US sound with the yearly mammogram. This is exactly the heated "discusson" I had with my BS who was against even alternating yearly US with mammogram. However, I can certainly bet if that individual had a BC hx or dense breasts --- they would be getting these scans done no questions asked.  We must be our own advocate to pursue what we feel is acceptable regarding our yearly exams and monitoring.

Neither of my two breast cancers were found by mammo - both were found via ultrasound.  So yes, I am very much in favor of this screening tool.

I was diagnosed by an MRI mammogram missed my cancer twice!!  I have two daughters who are approaching 30 years old and should start having US or MRI but insurance won't cover it even though I have had a bi-lateral mastectomy and cancer twice, first diagnosis was at the age of 40.

So worried about my girls and feel helpless that no one will help them. What should I do?

My diagnosis on this site is wrong.  No where does it ask if you had a bi-lateral mastectomy or if you were diagnosed twice.  I notice some have posted that.  What am I missing here?
