Silver linings

My thoughts on why it's ok that I have cancer.

Before I begin, I want to say that what I am about to talk about is only my opinion and is not meant to discount anyone elses belief or feelings on the subject.  I respect and acknowledge where everyone is on their journey and do not claim that I am right, but I do believe.

I believe that God has a hand in everything that happens in my life.  I also believe that he would not lead me along this path without a reason.

I am not a religious person and don't belong to any church.  I do, however, have a strong belief in a loving God and his messengers.

I believe that God does not punish, instead He brings us to places in life to learn and to grow.  I also strongly believe that life is all about love and service to others.

By no means would I make light of cancer and its horrors, but I refuse to believe that this is all a fluke of nature.  My proof is how cancer has affected my life and everything it touches.  From the emotional challenges to the physical drain on my body, I am learning so much about myself and about others.  This disease has slowed me down to the point where the little things have so much more meaning.  From my child's giggles to the quiet beauty of 5am.  I've seen changes not only in myself but in everyone around me.

I know that not everyone would agree with me, and I don't expect them to.  But I do thank God everyday for my charmed life, because to me the cancer is only in the shadows of the many blessings in my life.

miniwheat - I really like the last sentence of your post "cancer is only in the shadows of the many blessings of life"

It is good that you have been able to find the positive in your life for that is so very important. I too have similar beliefs and believe in a God that will guide me through this journey and be there to comfort me in the end.

    Have a great weekend!

    Thank you barsco1963.

I think if we trust in God, his light will shine even brighter on us.

    hugs
