Sientra Implants

mamatwinz Glad you're happy with the outcome so far!
-
mamatwinz, No I didn't put pics on the forum...did look around a little but really haven't been there too much. I had quite a bit of pocket work on my left side to move everything in a little bit-the expander sat out a little too far, and OUCH that was SO SORE for quite a while. It hurt SO much. I even sent my PS a pic of the outside edge was because it looked like it had dimples in it (because of the swelling) and it hurt so bad the next day. She said that she wasn't surprised at all that it hurt because she had to use deep sutures to rebuild that pocket. It hurt if I moved just wrong for probably 3 weeks or so. But now the dimpling has all gone away and looks great.
My upper armpit has a little extra fat on it as well. And I'm not sure if it's from the fat transfer from the surgery and that's where it's settled or if it's just how things are laying now with the implants in. But it's not bad and doesn't really bother me. And it actually seems to be getting less.
She gave me the go ahead to run at 2-3 weeks-I honestly can't remember, but it was quicker than her original orders of "do nothing for 4 weeks." I am SO GLAD. My PS is a runner too and totally understood my need to get a little endorphins going. I have no doubt that she wouldn't have cleared me if I wasn't ready, but I'm so glad I was! She said to wear extra support and make sure things didn't move at all...two sports bras later and, believe me, NOTHING moved. I took it really slow and easy getting back into it, and she lifted all restrictions when I saw her at my 6 week checkup.
Things will be back to "normal" before you know it, sister!

RunnerMom,
It would be so very helpful to us on the Picture Forum if you would take the time to post some photos. I have more than 3,500 views of my smooth, round resconstuction progress. That has not been pleasing to me and I am now considering a revision with either Sientra shaped or Allergan 410 implants. It would be helpful to me to see and hear what those with the newer implants think and feel about their reconstructions. Please consider sharing back with us your own journey on the picture forum.
Edit to correct "not" to "now". I am now considering a revision...

runnermom, thanks so much for posting..omg mademe feel soo much better! thank u thank u thank u! ps had to move righty in sime and out of my armpit and omg it is sooo sore, painful..yikes! it really surprised me as surgery was tues and i took pain meds everyday since..althogh just am and pm. i would wake up ok and then when i would sit up and stand..uggh ..it would pull/hurt soo much -mostly on the right..sucked! today is first day..sunday..that i have not taken anything yet..! defintely some pocket work there! i was surprised how nice thry looked post op on soft corset/bra..in shower i saw dimple/pucker on right side and was bummed..i think it is related to moving pocket/suturing and i will look again today. i see ps on monday for post op appt and see what he says..my sis was great n said, if u think u would come out of surgery and be perfect u are ridiculous! so maybe i was a bit over critical day 2 post op! i just have been very cautious post op to not ruin/rip any sutures to cause any unecessary need for repair! i hope ps will clear me with some activity mon..right now is no overhead and no lifting more than a plate..thanks again for sharing!! i so appreciate it!!
have a good one! -
Hi ...thanks everyone for sharing your experiences! It has helped a lot. Just had my TE exchanged for Sientra textured high projection 370cc 4 weeks ago....had to look that up on the catalog after reading your posts. Still feeling very tight. Does that go away and if so how long does it take?
-
Gardengal7, did you get the 370cc high projection round based Sientra or the 370cc high projection oval base Sientra?
-
Hi Mondayschild, they are round based.
-
Thanks, Gardengal7. The tightness will improve. I hate to say that you will never not have some of that, but it will loosen from where you are now.
How do you feel about the appearance of the Sientras?
-
Monday & GardenGal:
WHAT is the difference between the Sientra oval shape vs. the round shape? Are they both teardrop?
Thanks!!!!
-
if i am not mistaken..both are teardrop..round/oval is the base of the implant...my base is round....
ovals have more available sizes if I am not mistaken..there are only a handful of sizes for round base..largest is 425cc; which is what i have.
-
Thanks MondaysChild. Appearance wise I think they look good. Happy with the result...just looking forward to the tightness going away....expected post TE exchange to feel big difference and really have not which is disappointing.
Yes Mamatwinz you are correct from what I read in the sientra catalogue. -
The round base have the same height and width.
The oval base are wider than they are tall.
The classic base are taller than they are wide.
-
hey what bras did u guys gey/wear post op? so i was in a soft corset bra with adjustable velcro straps..ps said i could wear whatever was comfortable, no underwire..i am a just over a week post op. also did you have any settling at all with them? there are not many of us so wanted to ask! how do u guys feel re symmetry naked n clothed?
-
I wore my lovely surgical bra until I got my new bras at VS. I was SO happy to get back into a regular bra after being in that thing for so long...it was probably 6 weeks post op until I switched over (unless I was exercising, then I just wore my regular sports bra).
I've had some settling I think-or maybe it was just all the post op swelling that went down. But for the first week or so I felt like they were up under my chin. And my upper chest-which has always been very thin, actually had some substance to it. Now things have settled down and they look great. A little bit of a difference between the side that had rads and the other (like, tightness sort of), but look pretty similar for the most part. Not identical of course, but good. They look great in a bra and clothes, which is the most important thing really.
-
thanks (again!!) runnermom! were your equally up high post op? my right is higher thsn my left, i think.both look good, but different? i see ps on wed so will ask again. he did a lot if work on right and that is the fuller upper pole side, but dont think i have too much swelling, but nit sure.. i think the pocket maybe is sl higher which would account for more fullness up top..how ling did it take for u to notice settling or drop? just as a general reference for me.. my post op.corset is fine..just at the corset clips in the front there is some rippling in fabric which imprints to my skin..and thought i should get a cotton one to alleviate that..and have 1 ir two while washing. what kind of sports bra did u use early post op? i can exercise, just no aerobics or punching..said walking was fine..and will check re jogging..i have some toning to do before vaca in july and need some endorphins to keep me going..
thanks again for replying!!
-
p.s. i had already called nordstroms for fitting at 1 wk post op and they told me to wait 4-6 wks...no i am not anxious or anything for new "real" bras!
-
Yes they were pretty equal in their upper fullness. I also had fat grafting around the tops, too. My surgical bra also was leaving those rippling indentions for the first 2-3 weeks.
I don't really remember the exact time I noticed that I was happier with the look- I know I quit crying after the first week! Ha! But I'd say maybe around the 4-6 week mark things looked MUCH different and were starting to take some "normal" shape.
For the sports bra, I just used my regular Under Armour ones that I have...just a plain, pull-over-your-head type with criss cross straps in the back. I have two of them that I've had for awhile and I just went back to using those. I'd like some new ones, but they work fine.
And I know 4-6 weeks sounds like years away, but it's probably for the best because that's when things started to settle down a little bit for me. It will be here soon!!
-
thanks runnermom! i may return the cotton bali ones? u were right, the rippling from the surgical bra is gone now (i am right at 2 wks right now). ..m guessing this coincides with swelling decreasing/ down/gone. i still have some indent on rt side where a lot pocket work was done and suturing..but is getting better..righry is still with more upper pole fullness than rt, but better too! i see ps wed and see what he says..overall size n shape is perfect!

-
HI runnermom, i was reading your posts and see you had implant recon with prior rads. I am in the middle of recon and had rads in 2010, so am having some issues with tightness/symetry witht he right radiated breast. How did it go for you? After fills my back is in terrible pain. I have about 2 months to go before exchange.
Nancy
-
Hey Nancy, I'm sorry you're in such pain with your fills:( I didn't have any big issues with my right (radiated) side. My PS said from the beginning that she didn't want to push the limits on that side, fill-wise, since it had been radiated and it went really well. I can tell that it is a little firmer and tighter (feeling and looking) on that side, but other than that have had no problems. Did your doc give you a muscle relaxer for fills? Mine did, and I would take it on my way to getting my fills and that evening...I'm guessing it helped.
-
Hi Ladies! I posted in the sizing 101 thread...that will explain my URGENT issue...I thought maybe some of YOU could chime in over there to help me concerning Sientra implants...I MUST call my PS office this morning, as they are ordering my implants! Surgery on May 21!
Thanks soooo much!
-
Hi. Does anyone on here have the Sientra smooth rounds UNshaped (not anatomical/teardrop)? Thanks...gets confusing..
. -
violet..i do not..sorry..it does get confusing because sientra rounds are different than sientra anatomicals with ROUND base! good luck!
-
I have Sientra textured implants. I plan to have it explanted in a couple of months. I too am driving myself crazy researching these textured implants. My PS said I have 1,in 12000 chance of getting the Lymphoma but that is not good enough for me. I am having it taken out. I'm trying to figure out what grade mine is. They are saying grade 4 is the worse.
-
I have the textured Sientra Implant Opius. I am having it removed. I'm overwhelmed by this new information. anyone know what the grade is for that implant?
-
Violet 1
I think it is only the textured implants that are having the problem. Research ALCL in Women with Breast implants. That site has everything
-
I had a BMX in 2014 and have the Sientra textured round implants. I am so utterly mad and upset. I have spoken to another plastic surgeon other than the one that performed some research, the fatigue, aches, pains, joint pain, blurry eyes, dry mouth, dry hair, aging fast, weight gain. May be due to these darn implants.
Have a appt with a PS. Not the one that "talked me into" these implants.
Anyone else have Sientra?
