I saw this on facebook. I shared it and some chick started in on how they will never pass it because there is too much money in cancer and it will put too many people out of work. Grrrr. I wanted to hit her.

sandik, this is the stupidest thing I hear from medical establishment conspiracy theorists. It is totally ridiculous. Under their premise, Herceptin and Tamoxifen would never have been allowed to see the light of day.

But, OMG, here they are, easily accessable by all! WOW!

Amazing! Something to give us hope = ) Sandik, I'm with you. I'm tired of hearing about the conspiracy to keep us sick to make money. My onc said that he hopes to be put out of business one day and to have to change his specialty, and I know he means it. I'm sick of reading posts on various sites from people who claim that there is a cure for cancer (i.e. marijuana, some other natural remedy, etc.) but that it's kept a secret because "big pharma" (sick of that phrase, too) won't make money off of us.

I think Herceptin got a bad rap cuz the government did turn it down along with all medical people.  If it wasn't for private parties that stood behind it and financed it it would have taken much longer to be tested.

Dr Robert Weinberg is a professor of biology at the Whitehead Institute for
Biomedical Research in Massachusetts and was not involved in the research. He
describes the findings as "exciting work" that is bound to cause a worldwide
rush to translate these findings into useful therapies.

"Mobilizing the
immune system to attack solid tumors has been a longstanding goal of many cancer
researchers for decades," said Weinberg.
