Pain and concerns 3 years after breast cancer

Options

Has anyone ever had sharp jabs of pain after breast cancer?  I have been clean for 3 years following chemo, lumpectomy and radiation but within the last 2 weeks I have had these sharp jabs of pain in the other "healthy" breast.  I have had all my aoppintments in check and the only thing that has been off has been my hormones.  I'm 39 and my thyroid isn't working well (I have an apt. Friday) therefore my mentrual cycle hasn't come in 6 months.  That concerns me as I want to have a baby.  I have been reading about hormones affecting breast pain?  Or do I have cancer again?  I was estrogen negative so I'm not on any meds.  I do not feel a solid lump like as before with the cancerous breast.  Could it be fluid?  I just had an apt. 2 weeks ago with my gyno and he didn't feel a thing.  What is the reason for this pain or am I losing my mind?

HELP sisters!!!  Please!!!

My gyn says hormonal changes can, indeed, cause pains (I also have sharp pains now and then in my non-BC breast).  But I always say: when in doubt ask your doctor.  When is your next mammogram?  Since you just saw your GYN, can you consult your ONC?  I'm only saying this because it's always better to see a doctor and ask than to assume anything (though it is probably just hormonal changes that are affecting your body).

    Hi Lilah,

I actually have my 6 month mamo this Friday the 30th right after my apt. for a thyroid ultra sound.  The following Friday on the 6th I see my oncologist to go over the mamo results.  I'm just so nervous.  I have spent most of today crying and these sharp pains are scaring the heck out of me.  3 years ago when I found my lump it was from pain, just as I am feeling now.  I was researchng recurrences earlier, and usually it is in the same breast that had the tumor.

I am praying that this is the hormones on overdrive...I have not had a period since Oct. and my thyroid isn't right.  I'm just so sad because we are childless and I have been wanting/trying to gt pregnant.  Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful I am alive, it is just hard.  I was diagnosed 2 months after getting married.

Since I found my lump the 1st time, I'm not sure my gyno has "the touch" scary as that may sound.

Aw I'm sorry you're feeling so emotional but I understand how you feel.  It's great that the mammo and onc appointments are coming up so soon.  If it's nothing, this should put your mind at ease.  If it's something, you will have a quick insight.  Maybe the emotions are from hormones, though.  And, actually, I'm pretty sure thyroid issues can also trigger emotional swings.  Not that that is much comfort, but maybe information will help?  Can you take some advil or something for the pain?  It might just help you to calm down this week and next (while you wait for results) if you aren't feeling the pain.

I hope your appointments went well, Kattyana, and that you are feeling better.  I just started having sharp pains in my left (non-DCIS) breast a couple of days ago.  They feel the same as the sharp pains I had from time to time after my lumpectomy.  The doctor said those were nerves regenerating, but presumably that is not the cause this time since I haven't had surgery on my left breast.  I'm feeling a bit worried, too, but am glad that I already have an oncologist appointment and my annual MRI scheduled for the first week of June, so I should be able to get more information then if I am still having the pain.
