Kristi -- almost there .... baby steps but at least heading in the right direction. Sorry you are still dealing with the seroma -- hope things get better for you .... take care of your skin and get lots of rest and soon radiation will be just a memory ....
-
not sure how many of you would have seen this -- a friend sent it to me .....
-
Hi ladies, sorry I haven't been on but think I just wanted to take a break from thinking about BC.
Congrats to all that finished! Your skin will start to heal, it just takes time, so just muster on and know its almost over!
The fatigue actually started to hit me after I was done with rads, now I find myself falling asleep on the chair for about a 1/2 hr, guess everything is starting to hit me now that I don't have to run every day to rads, weird though.
Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend

Joanne ~ Thanks for sharing. Love the "heart" this guy shows in supporting his wife and helping people who can't afford treatment. However, can't imagine my DH ever donning a pink tutu...the world isn't ready for that. LOL!
-
He is on facebook.
I really think i see way too many docs. Saw three this week. My new BS, my MO-who i like way better than that big shot one at johns hopkins. And then a orthopedic for my dd. I swear my MO told me my chances of reaccurance were from 20-30%, now he is quoting40%. Thats with everything-chemo, rads, sx, and tamox.
He said with diet and exercize i can lower it. He also said he has never seen a woman progress that takes diet and exercize to extreme. And thats what i am going to do. 5k in june. 13k in nov. Its hard not to keep thinking about that number -
Hi ladies, glad to see more rad grads!!
I started tamoxifen on Tuesday. So far it's been ok, but I think I had a hot flash last night. I had to sleep on top of my blanket and let the ceiling fan cool me off. I wasn't flushed or sweaty, I just felt too warm. Then I got cold, and I'm still cold, even though it's 72F in the house. Does anyone know if tamox affects the regulation of body temperature--not just hot flashes?
It's been about 5 weeks post-rads and my energy level has improved somewhat. Some days are better than others. Since I had an uncomfortable night, I feel more run-down today than I have the past few days.
I hope everyone has a great and relaxing Memorial Day weekend!

My Thursday night dog training class had a "Well Done, Cindy" party last night. Aww sweet of them! We had one of the pizza size chocolate cookies. After a "wild" evenings celebration, I came home and collapsed into bed about 8PM. YES! I am getting my groove back.
I plan an exciting holiday weekend. I don't expect to dress tomorrow, and maybe not Sunday. On Monday, we'll take Mom out to the cemetery to pay our respects to family members no longer with us. Really, just what the doctor ordered.
-
cindy -- enjoy the not getting dressed. I did that last weekend - lazed around in an extremely baggy and very light weight tshirt ... it was wonderful --- just what my poor body needed --- healing time.
and how nice for the party too -- you deserved it!!
-
Yeah Joanne, they made me cry... of course that doesn't take much these days.

Hi ladies,
Popping on to say today is 30/30! I am happy and apprehensive about what is next. I do have so rad burns under the breast (blisters that are open and oozing) and in the armpit area. I can't wear any kind of bra right now but this seems so minor to me compared to the chemo I went through!
Not sure of my next steps as I don't meet with chemo doc again until 6/4.
Wanted to share my good news with you all!
HUGS!
-
Congrats, Wishn4one! Welcome to the light!
-
Wishn4one,
Congratulations! Please take good care of the burns/blisters that you have under the breast. Hopefully, you will start feeling better with each passing day. Sending you cyber (((hugs)))!!

20 out of 10 done! It will be wonderful to have 3 days off, and a visit from our son and girlfriend. (He is doing a 4-week class after his spring semester). I had 4 women from my church come and clean for me since I have no energy and swelling on my affected side...just hard to do some things! It was such a gift! I don't know what was the bigger deal - the clean house or the fact that it took 4 women to clean it!
The fatigue really hit me harder this week, and my skin is tighter and itchier. But no major sores or issues. Loving Calendula lotion!
Congrats, Wishn4one! And the rest that are done! Cindyl, don't get too wild! Glad you are celebrating good times with people.
Have a great weekend, everyone.

Hi everyone- met with my PS today. Today also marks 3 weeks out from finishing rads- I was picturing him saying "your skin looks great, let's schedule your exchange surgery!" What he actually said "your skin looks great, let's schedule your exchange surgery for November or December, and we'll resume your fills. Plan on coming in next Tuesday and Thursday" blah blah blah....sigh. I do understand the whole wanting to wait six months thing with the skin, just so tired of these TE's!!!!
I am feeling better this week, as far as energy. Not nearly 100%, but definitely better than I did.
I hope everyone has a nice, relaxing, healing holiday weekend!

I'm 3 weeks out from rads too. I just made my appointment with my PS for a week from now to get the ball hopefully rolling!! She didn't say anything about waiting 6 months after rads for the exchange. She told me how ever many weeks you get rads is how long you have to wait after rads to get surgery, so I sure hope that's the case! Hate the hard as a rock expander too!

Hello girls!
Just to let you know, my 5 weeks are over - no more regular daily rads.but... there is always a but ... next wednesday back to hospital for this "boost". I decided to do the internal one (even though it means surgery again) and have it over with in 1 day (two days altogether in hospital). The external boost would mean a couple of more weeks going regularly every day to the hospital. I just did not like the idea.
I must say, skin is ok , I had no problems whatsoever, I can see a slight discoloration, but skin is not sore or anything. Also, I myself feel totally ok.Maybe a little tired and sleepy, but I put it to the "getting up to early every day". For the early appointment, so that I can work after (either in the office or from home)
And - wish you all luck, and all the best !!!
(wish me luck in 5 days time - but, should be a "routine procedure" brachytherapy :-)

Just got back from the RO's office. Checked in with "my" nurse to let her know my skin was weeping... she said to come in. oogh you need antibiotics and painkillers. Went and got the RO. He prescribed some sort of antibiotic ointment, keflex and vicodin. "Why didn't I see you yesterday? Um because I finished rads Wednesday? Oh. Well I should have seen you then. OK. So he checked me over and decided I need to come in to see him next Thursday for a skin followup. Sigh.
So they redressed my wounds, sent me home with orders to call the on call doc if I'm still running a temp tomorrow, orders to come in and see the nurse on Tuesday and the RO on Thursday.
As much as I love them, I was hoping not to see them until my 1 month follow up. moo
I'm glad I don't need more surgery tho!
-
My 25 RADS are officially now done. They gave me a diploma and hugs. Skin is not so great but the worst part is under the breast. Hopefully, it will start healing soon.

Mamglam:
Thanks. I started the Tamoxifen 2 days ago - haven't noticed anything different yet.
-
claireinaz:
I'd be interested to her what your stylist says about hair dyes. I have about 3/4 - 1" of hair now (last chemo 3/8) - lots of gray mixed with a bit of dark brown. I'd like to see a little more before deciding whether to color. It would be such a great opportunity to go all gray and not have to worry about maintenance any more. The rest of my family votes "no".
-
Fredntan:
So glad to hear you are feeling better emotionally! Good for you for signing up for the half marathon. I'm thinking about doing that. . . I've been running (road and trails) for awhile with 2 TE's and haven't had any problems.
-
ang7894:
I was hoping my hair would start to grow sooner, but it stayed peach fuzz for 3-4 weeks after last chemo (3/8). Once it started growing, it has been pretty quick. It's almost an inch now.

I'm 10 days out (total 28 treatments) and my redness is MUCH better. I had some discomfort and peeling in the underarm and under the breast but that is mostly gone now also. I've been using Emu oil, Miaderm and Biafine and also a prescriptions steroid cream 0.1% Mometasone Furoate. The skin is a little more dry than the non-radiated side. It seems there is alot of variation in reactions to the radiation. I hope everything goes well for you.

Cindyl:
Congratulations!! You did it. Celebrating with you
-
luvmygoats:
Congratulations - you did it!! Doesn't it feel wonderful to be finished? Speedy healing to you.

Joanne_53
Saw this last night; LOVED it. What a creative (and brave) guy!
-
Fredntan:
20-30% recurrence means 70-80% that DON'T recur. Remember it's just a number; that doesn't mean it has to be you! I do think the healthy eating and exercise are an excellent plan.
-
wishn4one:
Congratulations to you!! Doesn't it feel great to be finished? Celebrating with you
I hope you heal up quickly.

momof3boys:
I'm assuming your skin looks/feels good? How is the texture? Did you get partial fills before rads?
I'm 10 days post rads and everything looks good so far, minimal redness, done with soreness and peeling. My PS didn't even want to see me until 4 months post rads! He usually does the exchange at 6 months which would be mid-November for me, but I don't want to be laid up for another holiday so I may wait until January.
I got my first massage today - it's been probably 8 months since I've had one. It's next to impossible to lay on my stomach for any length of time - too uncomfortable with the TE's. Fortunately, the therapist was able to modify posititions to be able to do a wonderful massage!
I hope you have a nice relaxing holiday weekend.
-
Cindyl:
Sorry to hear about this detour with your skin. Hoping the meds will keep your pain controlled and the antibiotics will prevent infection and you'll be on the road to recovery.
